I agree about not decking the block
but I think the check should be made before machining in NM's step 1
most Mopar blocks could use decking and none are ready for MLS gaskets
MOPAR are not as bad as other makes but I have had some that took .020 to get equal and square plus get rid of some huge bore chamfers
