73' B3 340 Duster pro touring build

Whatever Dave paid for that Dart, It might not have been enough.
He should not have regret #1........What a car!!!

Well since I am waiting on parts for the Dart and obviously the Duster is at paint ....still, I decided to make some custom heat/defroster Vent billet trim rings, I havent decided if I'm going to leave them in a brushed aluminum finish as they are now to match the billet control buttons and shifter or paint them in a suttle accenting color to go with the paint theme. but for now I thought I'd share them.

They look a little more finished off now than before...

Well I had to go back to the 3rd page to find my thread so I figured it was time for a few updates. First the Duster....I went last Thursday to see the progress and test fit the front bumper since it is going to get tucked it to the fenders and pushed toward the grille and some 5" driving lights flushed ito the license plate area (more on that later). Here's the slooooow progress, so much for being painted by the end of April, Denny you might as well fill my spot at the Nats since I doubt it will be back by then, But at least there was progress. I Can't really tell the inner fenders were raised 1 1/2 inches for tire clearance and once painted it should look like a "stocker". Fender bolts, what fender bolts ?

Now for the Dart, finally got the instrument cluster back from getting redone (yes, thats the actual milage) and the Painter (same one thats doing the Duster) got the front hood latch support, fender tag and battery tray painted since the paint we got with the car didn't match,he took the valance to match it up. Since the car isn't matching numbers we (I) decided to take the liberty to do some tastful modifications like heat shrink hose clamps, one wire alternator, MSD 6AL ignition and braided transmission cooler lines to route them away from the engine block and headers, it now runs down the frame rail. Also upgraded the transmission kickdown linkage to a Bouchillon performance cable system I decided to modify the throttle cable bracket by extending it 1 1/2" so both cables line are even with the carbs and linkage. Finally the Valve covers, fender extensions and vent window trim came back from Blackburn chrome plating and looks great.

Ross, were the trans lines a kit or did you have to piece them together?

Ian

Ian,
I put together the lines and swapped out the transmission cooler line fittings at the transmission case and radiator to accept the -6AN line, all the fittings are steel, not aluminum.

Cool, thanks. Just curious because that is something I am going to do just was hoping for easy kit. Is the line -6an also?

Is that a lift off or bolt on hood? SRT hood? Is it nice quality? I had a 70 AAR 'cuda Rallye Red 4-speed and I loved that hood style. That should suck a lot of clean air. :brave:

Yep, The line is -6 AN also. Straight ends on the Transmission and 90 degree on the Radiator, my radiator used 1/4" fittings and the transmission case is 1/8".

Here is the hood building, Made from a Chevy truck hood:

Thats the illusion.... but that link actually is when I grafted a GM Ram Air truck scoop to the stock 73' hood, the new one is a custom one off bolt on. It is not a SRT scoop, It started life as an AAR scoop that has had extensive work, the front opening has been totally re-shaped, the rear AAR ducts are removed and I made some special Billet aluminum reinforcements to take the flex out of the top skin but still allow air flow...(sorry no pics of that). It it very strong and will retain all the factory mounting and latching points and be smooth and slick on the bottom. Thanks JR

Ross, Both cars are looking great. You're right about the grand illusion
of the inner fenders. Love that hood!

Don't push it too hard; after all, you guy's have Daves Dart to fuss after
at the Nat's this year.

Can't wait to see all of the new iron coming out.

That Dart will be ready(I hope). Did Denny show you the latest emailed artwork ? I'm hoping the fenders will have the "Welded on" illusion once painted. You know how I like to hide in plain sight with my Mods.
