A nice early A that runs 10.90's on pump gas and still has license plates for a bonzai run to the local cruise in! That's what I need. lol Nice cars guys. Keep em' coming! tmm

Gregsdart that car is really flying. What do you think the horsepower is at? Jayson
The car weighs 3,000 race weight, so at the DA it went 8.77 at I figure it was making about 880 hp?

thank you guys for the compliments on my 65 Dart. Many hours and many people I need to thank for the way this car runs. I have had the pleasure of wheeling this car for over forty years now. Go figure! Currently the best I have driven it to is 9.58 @ 139 and change. This happened late this past fall. I was lucky enough to win the race that day. Six rounds and the dial never changed....9.58 It is a small block with good parts/heads and 904 trans/ati converter/dana 60-4.56 Kinda wraps up the general combo!

Man I really dig your car. Everytime I see it, makes me want to convert my hardtop to a purpose built drag car.

Forty years Epp!!! my you are showing your age!! ha ha I'm right behind you. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and it was great see you, Mullins and Willie's picture on face book. Talk at you later.
By the way I was driving the dart to work the other day and all of a sudden it backfires thru the muffler several times and just dies. Luckily not much traffic at 7:00 in the morning on Christmas Eve and I'm able to get it to a side street and not be on a busy street. Long story short I crank it a few time with popping thru the exhaust and carb. I think timing chain but I installed a new timing chain and gears back in April when I put this Slant 6 in the car( so not to likely the issue). Second thought is the drive gear on the dist. I have the car towed home, so today I pull the dist. and low and behold the drive gear on the dist. is wasted ( that is going to be an easy fix). Ordered a new dist. from NAPA and will have it this afternoon and the slant will be back in business again. Got to do something about the trans though slipping bad on the 2/3 shift. Do you know a good trans guy? HA HA.
Again later and have a Happy New Year.

Hers's some videos too. Jayson

I haven't been out in a couple of years now so you probably won't see me. The engine in this car will be 10 years old in 2014 and has made 100's of passes. It probably should be gone thru before I take to the track again still good for the street though. Jayson

Smitty..a /6? must be getting old...like me! Good job on the trouble-shooting...Dist. gears, they go bad...does it still have points? GEE can you tell me the dwell number? I taught you that! How about the dwell readings of the dual point distributors? Remember, block one point set, set the dwell, then switch the paper which was blocking that point set and do it all over again. A distributor machine works nice for this! [27-32 each point set/ total 37-42 total for both sets in operation]
Did you see the Neon sign I had made for Gary? It is a fine trubute to his late/great father! A man we should never forget!
