additional weight ?

traction bars and s.stock springs ? the springs will work w/o a snubber and shouldn`t have trac bars on them. always go one weight lighter on the springs if u have a choice.
we used to run 6 1/2-6 3/4 lbs in 14x32`s also. ran 6 in a set of 14wx32`s, worked well for a while.

As for the original question, weight in the trunk, yes it can and will make a world of difference. Depending on the track I am at I have run over 250lbs in the back. More hp guys in the class regularly run 400 or more in the trunk. Obviously we are rule limited, but if you are at the track and cannot get off the line,it is amazing what a difference a simple 50lbs in the right place will make.

Well this is what I'm working on today I definitely gotta make sure there's plenty of travel in the rear shock I can't have it bunny hopping because it ran out of shock. I've got some things fitted and some ideas put together.

I'm just waiting for my battery powered drills and saws to get recharged. Then I'll start some welding sanding and painting and see if I can't get this cockamamie idea to work.

Welded, primered, and painted. More so than racing sometimes I think the car gives me excuses to do stuff like this... LOL

I my self would weld a plate over that just to double up on strength and safety.

That is rectangle stock one and a half over one welded inside each other and I tried mocking up just two on top of each other and it's kind of deceptive in the picture but it wouldn't leave enough room for the pumpkin to travel up. I'm feeling pretty confident in the strength. thank you for your concern and I will keep a close eye on it.

On the contrary I believe I have about 2 inches of travel left they were damn near all the way extended and that's what I was thinking about getting that Bunny Hop feeling, but again this is all Theory till I try it out. If you look in post # 54 the first picture there and you can see the shock extended and still an inch and a half away from where it was before. I would say I've got at least an extra 4 inches of the extension now with a probably total of at least six when again I think I used to have about two. Some of the pictures can be deceiving. I hope it helps and I will try that first and then work on some of your suggestions also.
So you gained what, 1.5-2 inches.

That will certainly help.

To give a scale the long top bar is 1"× 2" and the end pieces are 1 1/2 × 2 1/2 cut 3" long.

Interesting solution, I like it.. My Scamp had wheel hop with 002/003 S/S springs(360 /727 mild 12 sec. combination).. Pulled the shocks on it,measurements were 1.5" shorter than stock rear A body ,2.5"-3" shorter than the 71 Imperial rear shocks. The longer shocks cured it...

4 is better than two, so it will help for sure.

Keep us posted. I think there are quite a few guys running shocks that are too short, let alone not having enough adjustability. Big leaf spring thread on moparts. Well worth looking at. In unlawfuls forum.

&#$@! Dragstrip rained out today

Wow, Woodburn is in the proverbial banana belt. I have driven through blinding rains storms to get there. Actually stopped at the rest stop in wilsonville and almost turned back. Fortunately I kept going and went to the semis that day.

I've got to stop making 5 changes at a time. 318willrun has made the conclusion I was a great snowball fighter as a kid as I'd throw so many I'd have to hit something (true) I've gotto stop that!!

If you go to moparts and go into unlawfuls forum and click on the thread about fast leaf spring crap and go to page 4. The OP of that thread posted a short vid of a tire getting its guts smashed out and you can see the tire push back and unload the tire. Video isn't perfect but you can clearly see what happens when you hit the tire like a freight train.

I'd send you the you tube link but my old skool ways keep me from being able to.

Check it out.
