Am import version of the W2 in aluminum with good OOTB ports and modern chamber design. Team it up with a matching intake similar to the Victor or the M1.
The W2 is still a low port design.
If you are going to do all the work to produce a “modern” head it should be an updated W5.
I know what I’d do to update it for sure.
1. Raise the port another .150-.200.
2. Raise the floor to match it.
3. Add at least .300 or better yet .400 to the valve length so you can get the port that high.
4. Raise the valve cover rail .750 or better yet 1.00 inch.
5.move the exhaust valve at least .060 away from the intake valve and .100 would be better.
6. Move the intake valve the same amount.
7. No bigger than a 1.550 exhaust valve. The end user could install a 1.600 if they thought they wanted it.
8. 5/16 stem valves because they are going to be long and heavy.
9. Move the rockers over to match valve placement. This also removes a little bit of the angle around the intake port and you can get a bit more port width there.
10. I would change the chamber but it would look nothing like the Edelbrock/SM/TF chamber.
11. 50 degree seats out of the box.
When you type all that out it’s a W7. Although I don’t remember if they moved the valves that far. I do know they moved them.
Edit: and develop a tunnel ram based on the Holley Pro Dominator design.
