man i hadn't seen one of those in years! i see it is missing its front bumper and rear bumpers and it now is sporting a z/28 scoop on it. really brings back some old memories to see it.

I saw a yellow one yesterday going north on 167 through Auburn, WA. It was slammed on the ground with a cowl induction hood.

The Marlin was a late 60's car that looked a lot like a 66/67 Charger. Basically a fastback roof on a Rebel.

amc had alot of weird names. pacer, marlin, concorde, hornet, amx, javlin, ambassador, gremlin, spirit, matador, rebel machine, eagle, ect........

Marlin :cheers:the first American Fish.:dontknow:

Dang.....wish I had you guys with me yesterday. I had 2 guys with me telling me no way it was a Matador. I started 2nd guessing myself..

Anyways.....it was a nice car and different for sure.

Oh yea, that is a Matty. I like "The Machine" myself. Jav's are cool too.

Hey ... easy now. There's a few of us here that have those vehicles with weird names. ;)

hey nothing wrong with that. i used to own 2 eagles and a concorde wagon at one time. my wife still likes the gremlins to this day. amc was a car company that just missed it....if they could have hung on for about 4 more years i think that could still have been here today.....

My first car was a 69 Ambassador with a 280 horse 343. It was pretty quick for a heavy old boat.

I gotta say though, back in the day the Matador was one butt ugly car. AMC only beat that one by making the Pacer. I worked for AMC back in 1977 and it was embarrasing when I had to take a Pacer to go pick up a part or something else. I usually slunk down in the seat as low as I could hoping nobody I knew would see me driving it.

P.S. That's the best looking Matador I've ever seen.

This year AMC was used in one of the James Bond movies as one of his cars that converted into something else. Jysnflem
In the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun, the villain Francisco Scaramanga drives a Matador coupe that could transform into an aircraft. Matador sedans (2nd generation) were used as local police pursuit vehicles. In that movie, various American Motors vehicles were used despite the fact that the movie was set in Thailand, where AMC cars were never sold; this was a pioneering use of product placement.

"AMC the poor mans muscle car"

Ive always wanted a Grimlin with a 401 and a 4 speed.

A friend of mine had a pretty stout 440 in a Gremlin for a short while. They like to fly backwards through the traps at speeds over 112....:munky2:

I grew up riding in a red Matador X and then a Pacer Wagon. They were both good cars.

Thats a cool looking car-anyone else see the joke in hotrod a while back about bringing back amcs?,they looked bad *** and I was actually a little p.o.d when they eneded with April fools.I think their engines are actually very underated once you make a couple oiling mods and their heads are really impressive for small block stockers. My wife bought her dream car-a 71 amx that we will be working on after my duster gets put together.Shes really looking forward to it and she tore down a 401 by herself a couple weekends ago,she says if someone asks sabout my car Im going to be able to tell them about it!.
