And it begins....

It's really coming along. Looks like you're really getting the hang of it. Still watchin'

Grant

thank you and I sure am getting the hang of it, my welding has improved dramaticly in the last couple months, and really getting the hang of filler and getting a panel laser straight. thanks for watching

One of the coolest threads Ive came across by-far!!! Dude it looks like they are cramming the info in you the right way, I dont see any shortcuts man great work. I think everyone here appreciates the work your putting into the car and the pics as well. Wish I could dig in and work on my car non-stop like that... By the way the filler job isn't as bad as you think... People that have worked with it know that its tough to find out how to get comfortable with it at first. I get a lil upset sometimes when I havent fooled with it in a while and mix a batch and either mix too much or not enough etc... Keep it up man that car is going to be awesome!!!!:D

I am flattered and really apreciate it. No shortcuts for sure, doing everything the correct way to the best of my ability. I'm glad thats how they teach us here, I am trying to start off as keeping my work as correct and clean as possible, I want that to reflect on me as a student and later as an employee.

Have had allot of trial and error with filler. Every-once in awhile I put too much hardener in or not enough in and either have to apply it quickly before it dries or wait for an hour just for it to harden, but I am getting allot better with it.

thanks

As many of you can tell, in my first post on this thread I was planning on doing a very light restoration, just freshening up the car. It has snowballed into a full on custom/resto-mod. Basicly want a car that will show off my skills and grab the attention of anyone it passes by. Trying to set it off as one of the coolest 74's that has ever hit the street, who knows, maybe a magazine car when its done, I think that would be the best way to get my name out into the mopar industry.

Looks good, Im going to Wyotech in september and I plan to bring mu 68 cuda with me and do the same thing.

Sweet, gota love a cuda. Don't plan on being able to do much to your car there though. I know because I went to Wyotech for 9 months before I started here. If you keep perfect attendance and don't get any points taken then you can work on your car for the last 2 weeks of school. Not enough time to get hardly anything done. Not trying to trash Wyotech, I'm just bitter I guess, not happy with what I got for my money going there.....I even maintained perfect attendence and never got any points taken. They seem to be more worried about collecting there tuition check rather than keeping students educated.

I finished up the filler work on the back half of the car and Primed it

So, is it silver that you are going with?
I like the new Iacocca Silver. I do not know if the paint codes are available yet, but that is the color I would love to paint my Dart.

engine on the run stand, figured out a few problems when the engine was apart, 4 broken valve springs, crank needed a grind on the mains, oil pump was chewed up. The main cause of my ignition problems was that the guy at summit racing that ordered up my ignition parts sold me a points coil instead of an electronic ignition ignition.
