This car was leaving a car show near Pottstown Pa. . I was told he owned it for 50 years 383 car just installed a 440 six pack. Hit in the rear on route 100 at a red light. He survived but was burned . Just had frame ties installed when the put the engine in. The door still opened so he was able to escape.

Distracted driving is sadly a reality that YOU have to look out for. Trust no other drivers. This charge should be a severe as attempted murder or attempted manslaughter. If you are driving a 4000lb battering ram down the road, you are in control of a 4000lb weapon. If you intentionally distract yourself, you are guilty.

Damn shame.

I would have a hard time not racking up some assault charges after that. Damn! I hope his burns are not severe.

I just talked to his friend. He had the car 55 years. The super bee exploded on impact , they were going to that ice cream stand in the picture. The car had 1/4 tank of fuel his wife was with him. They were going to fill up but she wanted ice cream first.

. One thing about those b-bodies in those years was the fuel fill was behind the license plate. Looks like the exhaust tip is under the rear. There is more pics of the car on his face book page.

It was a beautiful car. I would tell her insurance to send it to Graveyard Carz. With the bodily injury claim for burns filed you usually can get what ever you want. Yes it was a young girl and they said she was going over 100 MPH passing cars prior to the accident. 3 cars burned completely. from what I was told the SUV was not involved in the collision it just caught fire

100mph passing cars looks like in the city limits by the pic. Holy crap. If she lives home with her parents and is under 18 or on their insurance, I'd bend them over and break it off in their asses.

another sad day ...stupid people do stupid stuff and the inoccent have to pay
at least they will live to see another day

Thanks for posting pictures. That was a much harder impact that the first pictures showed. The B-body gas tank filler location and the many modern cars’ lower sloped front end make for a bad combo. Luckily that blue SUV that looks to have hit him had a high front end.

Although she might have reached 100mph, just to be clear I don’t think it was near 100mph at impact. That would have been an incredible mess.

Do you know if he had an electric fuel pump?

I was going to say, it looks like the car that hit them was going pretty fast to do that kind of damage. Not much to salvage on that car & it's good that both got out in time.
What terrible thing to happen but, could have been way worse. That girl should lose her license for 10 years for this!

The other car in the picture is not the car that hit him. That SUV pictured was across the street going the other direction that just caught fire from the fuel and was not involved in the accident .

oh geez!

Wonder what car that hit him looked like? Where they hurt too?

What kind of car hit them, I would think at 100 mph it must have been a small car, and a head on I would think the driver of it would not have survived

So sad to see this.
When you drive any vehicle, not just a classic car, you are subject to a lot of lousy drivers hitting you.
It's good to hear that he will be okay, it sure could have been a lot worse.
It's too bad that it involved his nice classic car, but at least he walked away.
Personally, I would charge the person responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
For how hard the Super Bee was hit, it did well and the sub frame connectors probably saved his life.
Too bad he lost his long time baby, it looked nice before the accident.
It was even a 4 speed car too...
