Any Foxbody guys here?

Hey y’all, wondering if anyone here is a Ford Foxbody guru.
Since I spend so much time tinkering with my Mopars, my fiancée has been wanting to learn about cars and wants something to cruise around with me.
I bought her a cheap but decent 1993 Mustang 2.3L 5 speed convertible.
It runs and drives but appears it was an idiots project car.
It has a “new” canvas top. But something is super jacked up with it and the hydraulic system is missing.
If anyone here knows anything about these cars, let me know!
Otherwise I’ll have to go join a Ford forum

Your best bet would be to find one in the junk yard to get the parts you need. Then take lots of pictures as you take it apart.
I like those cars but I have zero experience with the convertibles.

Brings back memories, I also had a 93 fox vert.

It had that same 2.3 with 8 spark plugs. I think that was a puegeot design because ford did a lot of collaborating with the French car maker.

It sure is gutless in a heavy convertible

Those 2.3s are not really around much anymore because most of them got v8 swapped

My wife and I have both owned a lot of Foxbody Convertible Mustangs in the past. Good cars and easy to work on other than changing a heater core, but these cars were new and I never had any issues with the tops.

You'll be hard pressed to find parts for them today as they are drying up. If your cylinders are missing you may as well just operate the top manually. Finding what you need and putting it back together will be more trouble than just buying another car.

I wouldn't call myself a guru, but I have owned several fox body Mustangs, including a couple converts. There is a huge amount of aftermarket support for these cars and no shortage of forums filled with enthusiasts. I was a member of Four Eyed Pride forum for a while, shouldn't be too hard to find most parts. It's also possible that 94 to 99 converts may use some of the same parts as the platform is very similar to the fox. Car looks pretty decent, good luck.

Pardon Our Interruption... Those parts are all over the internet and should be incredibly easy to get new or used. Good luck with the project. Your Lady friend looks like she really likes the car!

That 2.3, if it's the Lima (pinto engine), has 4 spark plugs above the intake and 4 below it! You have to remove the upper intake half to get at the bottom 4 plugs. Wow I thought every bolt was going to break. Don't worry about the bottom 4 as they don't really do anything except emissions.

Not sure how many they made but they are worth some coin now. Fun car for sure and out the door it was less than $12,000. I still have the window sticker that came on that car. Wonder if the car still exists and if the current owner would appreciate it like an old A body Mopar owner would love original paperwork.

I wouldn't be surprised if the current owner would love to have the original window sticker, fox body owners are just as passionate and dedicated as most Mopar people are.
I had a set of the oem TRX wheels for sale, (the ones that were a weird metric size), with original tires for a long time. Finally someone inquired and bought them, and by crazy coincidence that person is the current owner of the 20th Anniversary Mustang GT350 convertible that I bought new off the showroom floor in January of 1985. Small world.
That car was originally equipped with those wheels, but they were lost to time long ago when the tires were no longer available.

Cool thing about these is the fact the fox body platform as some great junkyard potential for suspension parts. The old turbo coupe had a good 8.8 RE with disks that is a bolt in, the springs and sway bars from the smaller, earlier LTD based cop car are also direct it swaps as are the 15x7 wheels from those cars. Drop and 302 in front of a small block C6 and your off having a blast.

I want a 4 eye notch so bad. I saw one sitting couple of weekends ago and there is one sitting a couple of blocks from my house. But I don't have room and don't need another project so I just daydream about them.

My recollection is that it wasn't that they didn't make many, but that they were pretty much despised for years so they end up as parts cars for the fastbacks or just tossed. Now they go for more than the fastbacks.

Seems like when I look at foxbodies for sale, 99% of them are convertibles. I've even thought about buying a convertible and finding a notch roof to weld onto it. It's been done, seen it on YT.

Now there's a fix for those missing convertible top parts.
