Building a engine in this fashion would be pretty crappy on the street.
Ported thoughThere was a time when all racers had were factory iron heads.
He would not need to run a stock eliminator cam. And super stocker run solid rollers as their no lift rules...
Wow, sweetMy car has ported J heads, they are not real big, 2.02 valve still have the 3/8 stem, engine is a 360 with flat top pistons, .510 lift cam, this year it has been consistent low 6.70s in 1/8 mile and 10.60s in the 1/4

I ran 10s for years with W2 heads as fast as 11.35 with ported J headsFactory iron heads? .....yes! Stock stroke 360,KB piston, flat tappet, old Crane non roller rockers, Vic 340 intake, topped with a period correct ancient BG carb
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in the rest of the motorPlenty of NHRA Stock and SS cars into the 10’s running factory heads.
Ported though

That car just looks slick! Are J heads ported extensively? What rear gear? Is it pretty street friendly? A Demon would probably run E or F/SA with a 340, it is amazing how fast those stocker 340s run, very impressive! There is a guy at my local track with a Demon that is a NHRA stock class racer. (J stock auto if I recall correctly) He runs 10.7-10.8 with a "stock" 340 + 200 lbs of weight in the trunk.....his engine probably costs more than my whole car, lol.
