beating a dead thread, but this comment irks me, so I had to make an account to specifically reply to THIS, one, as a business owner myself, an automotive machine shop owner no less, being 27 years old, taught by someone whose done this profession for 60 years, though, I am a one man shop, I build engines, Deck, Bore, hone, etc etc, this is the belief that is killing the industry, and why new generations of auto machinist's just never Make their own shop or business thus leaving us with what we're left with now (in my area there is only 1 shop, and that owner is going out of business leaving ME as the LAST automotive machinist within a 50-150 mile radius in my area.. GO to your small shops, GO to support them, they're the last line of defense against being forced to ship out engines to Kalamazoo and back spending Hundreds on shipping alone...

I am happy to be a lone Shop owner, I love to work alone, being in my own space, and working at my own rate without worrying what another guy is doing, but do NOT discount us, just because we aren't westech, White's performance, or any other large layout Huge output shop with the newest best of the best equipment doesn't mean we cant put out Just as good work it's also why kids ain't wanting to do this stuff now because folk wont give 'em a chance.

Yeah I want to retract my statement from 5 years ago. I don't know what my frame of mind was when I wrote this. I meant no disrespect for legit businesses.

You have to be a loser to get to that logic, to rather die than face consequences like a man. This was just the final symptom of a dude who'd already checked out long ago, & the last grain of sand finally hit the bottom side of the hourglass, ............I'm waiting to see if it gets turned into a 'Fear Thy Neighbor' or such episode.
