Wish me luck. I'm doing surgery today. The only TIG I've used was company equipment.
Very high end transformer stuff.
I've got pin hole rust in two cars I'm working on. I've never been satisfied with MIG and it's short comings. But TIG is an investment. I'm hoping that I can save more original metal with a TIG.
I scored this at Horror Freight last month and just got it set up. It requires 10psi so I had to get an adjustable regulator and separate flow gage. (Harris is the best deal)
Most preset regulators seem to be set at 30 psi or better.
Now this is weird. I stumbled on it at "close out". It was on the net at a reduced price.
And I got a good discount at my store.
But now I look and don't see that. If you are interested check your store. Mine still has them.

I was holding out for this based on reviews and my needs. I tend to think that Miller is a little steep.
But the suitcase welders are new and hot items. Maybe they will come down anyway.

And wouldn't you know it. It just became available right after I get all set up with the cheaper one.
But I saved 700 dollars anyway. One way to look at it.
I did want a foot control. I've used those. But at a bench. Might not be best for mobile work.
The one from Horror Frieght has heat adjustment on the face and a switch on the head.
But I've tried it out and think that I can work with that.

Oh and my other thought was that if these things crap out they are electronic and hard to fix.
You are at the mercy of the MFG probably.
So I wanted a throw away price at this point.
