I would love to take a drive down there in my Duster when I get it back on the road. I bought the car from someone who had left it for dead with a broken rod and B-post damage. I have been working on rebuilding it for a few years now. I am getting close to getting the new engine and transmission in there. I think after getting it on the road again and situated, a "pay-off" drive to Vegas would be a heck of a achevement.

My question(s) - (never having been to Vegas), What do you do? Where do you go? Where do you stay away from? Good stories? Bad Stories?

Are there any dates set for 2009?

When I got it:

I am working on rebuilding the trunk before the new tank goes in....The suspension front and rear has all been rebuilt, the steering has too (now manual). The rear is a beefy 8/4 on new springs, by the time the car is on the road I will have essentially rebuilt most everything about it.

i went last year. i had a blast! the racing, the swapmeet, the show cars...awesome truly awesome. i hope to go next year, maybe ill have our Duster up and running by then.

Book early!!!!
I called to book a room in Jan. and couldn't find one so I won't be there this year. I'll try early this year (2009 show).

I uploaded a bunch of pics from this years event on the MATS website....too many, I think I might take some down. The date for next year hasn't been set yet. I'll post the date as soon as its set. Theres also a couple motels coming up about a block away from The Cannery casino that usually hosts the event so there will be more rooms available nearby.

Don't forget the big party at the Cannery! I took the wife last year and we had a blast. Only spent Saturday at the track, and Sat night at the Cannery, but still it was worth it.

Vegas is Vegas, it gets old after about 2 days of non-stop drinking and gambling. A trip to the track to look at cool cars helps to break things up. Then back to the Cannery for more drinkin and gamblin!

Here is a pict of me and the better half, waitin for the show to start at the Cannery. Good times!

I went 2 yrs ago. It's a great show. Nice show car displays and turnout and fair size swap meet. Races are awesome. We gambled at night and went to the track during the day. Breaks up the casino time nicely. Probaly saved me tons of money ...LOL. It's not very far from the strip either. Have fun. I'm going next year again.

Hey wjaholic - Went to MATS in 2008 for the 1st time as I'm newly returned to Mopars. Went with other members of our club and really enjoyed ourselves both in Vegas and at the track. Really hope to have my '69 Dart ready for next years show.
We also go to Vegas twice a year for bowling but had so much more fun at MATS than when we go for bowling.
Hope to see you there next year!

well...it is easy for me to go since i live in vegas, it is a wonderful show with alot of beautiful cars and good drag racing...

what are the dates for 09

As soon as a date gets set, I'll post it for those interested. I'll also see if I can get some kind of deal for FABO members if enough people want to attend. Can't promise anything since its not my event, just helping a friend out. I got a couple of friends from Hawaii interested in coming so maybe I can get some kind of group pricing.

I went in 2005 and again in 2007

Had a blast both times, spent most of our time at the MATS and some time walking around the other strip, did some drinking, very little gambling, and spent way to much money at a place called Cheatah's, and The Olympic lounge, etc. I think you know what those places are..

Didn't get to do the 2008 Mats, but just got back from a trip to Vegas with the wife. It was her first time, we saw lots of cool stuff like, the Shark reef at Mandalay bay, the Tigers, Lions, and Dolphins at the Mirage. Saw a show at the Imperial palace, and spent lots of time in front of the Belligo watching the fountains. Did lots and lots of walking ! Of course with the wife along this time there were not visits to the bars mentioned above.
To top it off we had a Very Bumpy airplane ride back to denver.
