If you are using the original driveline you will want one with the Ball and Trunion output shaft (64-65 only).

Also last year for the rear pump which takes a different transmission filter, which means it can be push started unlike 66 and newer
 
64 and 65 are the only 2 years for the cable shifted small block 904. However there are differences. The only difference that matters as far as fitment is the valve body. 64 and 65 have different valve bodies, as the 64 was push button shifted, and 65 was either column shifted or floor shifted. The valve bodies can be swapped. There are some other differences that matter if rebuilding.

Actually, the interchange is much greater than that. Even some B-bodies used the same one. It's a matter of length, coupler, and U-joint size.
