best way to remove the under dash assist spring???

What is the best way to remove this clutch pedal assist spring without ruining it?

I took the pedals out of the car and mounted them in a vice and used a crowbar to stretch the spring to remove off of mount point.

Push clutch in, have a buddy start shoving washers between the coils.

yep it does done it many times with assembly out shouldn't be too hard with it in

I did it using washers with the assembly still in the car. I still had to use a little force to get it out. If I had not used the washers I doubt I would have gotten out in one piece.

I used quarters!!!! Go figure--Yep washers same thing!!!! They are tougher springs than you think,I remember when passon sent me mine I thought he was joking with the size of the thing!!!!!!--Steve
