Brazilian Dodge Dart 76 (similar to 69 usa)

Driver side. I think I have a crack to work with.
Already cleaned area… drilled a hole at crack ends. The larger hole was supposed to be 2 distinct holes. Although, sheet metal broke.

welded in piece

Well, my weld skills are not perfect yet... but I´m doing the job.
Untill the weekend I will grind.

I see you leveled it out like i mentioned awhile back. I got a local friend who builds racecars who told me the locations to set the levels. I am glad they worked out for you. The subframe connectors should help with stress cracking you have found and welded up. Car looks great so far.

There was a Brazilian gangster movie, where they use a black 2 door Dart as their business car, I have been trying to figure out for years what ghe nmae of that movie is.
Does anyone know?

there are a few (or a lot) of Brazilian movies that uses dodges (a-bodies).
One of the most famous here in Brazil is "Roberto Carlos at 300km/h"
Roberto Carlos is a very famous singer since the 70´s ... (I think he craps)

I this movie, he is driving one of the most beautiful a-bodies (in my opinion)

At least paint touch up will be easy. Rattle cans will probably be good enough,as the area is hidden

C'mon.

We know you have skills, your build is awesome for the tools you have to work with, but..............I want action!

I want a go-pro video of you tooling around the neighborhood scaring all the cats and old ladies! :steering:

You know I've been patiently waiting. Selfish bastard that I am.

Nothing a dab of paint wont fix. The chrome will cover most of the damage anyway.

Quit stalling..................:poke::D

next steps
a) paint the weld (body filler + primer + white paint)
b) cover these small scratches
c) install headliner (I think this task will be challenging)

body filler...
I also have to paint the interior part of the A-column.
Why? because I drilled 3 holes each side. I tought I was suposed to install a cover plate.. but it is not stock on my car model.

well... I´m getting older and I decided to change my appearance. Now I´m looking like a real professor!
This week I´m working "half" time.. Was suposed to be on vacation. Well... I intend to install headliner and call someone to install windshield.
I have to fix a leak on steering pump and on oil filter. Then, I´m ok to ride around the neighborhood.
I still waiting for the car license. Long history... and everything in Brazil involves a long burocracy.

Today I stretched headliner.
I´m following this tutorial
Restorations by Rick Kreuziger - Headliner installation

I spent until now about 2 hours
- 1 hour preparing headliner, making inital cuts; inserting bows into hanger clips, also installing the 2 small wires with hooks on the end).
- 1 hour with the following tasks

First, I´ve checked the center like. I think it is ok.

I tried to strench rear and and front end. At this moment, I was not aware to make everything perfect.

well... today is "fathers day" in Brazil. I went visit my dad.
When I came back by night, I tried to removed folding marks, stretching headliner a bit more.

Firt, pull front end, starting in center.. then.. went to left side and right side.

I notice that the cut I made on listing pockets was not enought. Tomorrow I will trim a bit more.

Altought, result is getting almost ok.. Just a few folding marks, which I hope will disapear when I apply a heating gun.

Corners still not ok. I noticed now that on tutorial, author made some cuts... I think this will make my life easier. Tomorrow I will spend a few more minutes (hours) to let everything ready to glue.

Your getting older? I barely noticed all the grey hair. :poke:

The headliner is looking good. A day in the sun will help tighten everything up a bit more.

Keep up the good work Prof!

dam´t.
picasa isn´t working.

today I almost finished. spent about 2 hours to glue vynil on both sides.
Seems a lot of time, but I do everything slowly... taking photos, having a breakfast, cleaning tools.

Now I just have to strench rear column. Which seems to be a "not easy" task.

Those corners are a beech......and I don't mean Baia do Sancho. :D

Take your time as you have been, and when your done, set it in the hot sun. It will help shrink it a bit.
It may not be perfect at first but it should get better (tighten up) with time.

Driver side is not 100%. Photo is overestimating the wrinkle.
But I think this wrinkle will disapear when I apply some more heat using my wife´s hairdryer... no!... defenitely I will use my heat gun.
