I've been told this is a new MP solid either 528 or 590. Do any of these numbers do anything or color code? Single bolt BB

That is not a MP cam; all the MP cams I've ever seen are Purple, that's why they are called Purple shaft cams, the paint marks on the cam are meaningless; if your measurements are accurate, at .440 lift with a 1.5 rocker, it; the cam; is not eather a .528 or .590 lift MP solid lifter cam; more like a no-name stock replacement; though I will hazard a guess that the "circle M" MAY, MAY, be a stamp by Melling Tool who MAY have ground it.

I'm thinking a comp 260H doesn't matter. It's unused and I'd hazzard to guess the 31075 is a pro date ! Thanks for the help.

In addition to the purple paint, MP cams were not parkerized(the black coating on the lobes).

I’ve never seen a Comp without their numbers on it.

Most “name brand” cams(Isky, Crower, Lunati, Howard’s, etc) will have their brand on them.

No name cams of the past were usually “white box specials”, where the reseller takes it out of the plain white box, and puts it in their own branded box.
Many of those were ground at Camshaft Machine Co. in Michigan.

You should measure few lobes...... intake and exhaust..... to see if it’s a dual pattern or not.

There are many references as to a colored stripe on a purple shaft cam for ID purposes. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find an ID chart. Best to give MP a call apparently for the color cross reference info.

Here’s my final answer.......

The number used by several engine parts suppliers of yesteryear for the std non-HP BB cam would have “327” in it.
Sealed power is CS-327, Clevite is 229-1327, TRW TM327, etc........ and that cam has what looks like a 327 stamped into the back of it.
The lift of the “327” cam is .434/.431.

I think PRH has the most likely scenario. And i have to assume it's a hydraulic grind. Might be sell/trade bait on FBBO/FCBO.
