Just found out my Hodgpodge 340 has #8 cylinder sleeved (all cylinders are already .040 over). I wonder what happens to the already sleeved cylinder if I decide to sleeve the block back to original bore size of 4.040? Thank you.

It would be in most cases, financially impractical to sleave ALL the bores back to standard, but i would imagine it would be possible to re-sleave the one hole back to whatever size you wanted. I think the sleeved hole is normally bored back to match the other 7

You can re-sleeve the one that's already been sleeved.

It's .040" already? Have you had it sonic checked? Most 340's will take a .060" overbore without any problems. The '68 340 in my duster is .060" over. Of course it might not clean up with only another .020" cut, don't know what you're working with or what it will need. There are guys out there that do .080" bores on 318's, just depends on the wall thickness. But if you go more than .060" you'll probably need custom pistons, so, more cost there too.

Usually it's $50 a sleeve, though it can be more. That's an extra $400 for machine work on top of the normal costs. If it's not number matching deal Id be looking for a 360.

I'd see what your machinist thinks. If taking it out to .060" over will clean it up then you shouldn't have to worry about sleeve.

the sleeve can be removed and another sleeve installed. then bore it to match rest of bores. a good machinist can do that .

I would charge about $150.00 per hole so $1200 to sleeve all 8. Completely unnecessary unless you just have to have it. J.Rob
