While taking out old and putting in new headers, which was frustrating to say the least. While doing so I had to disconnect and take apart most of the transmission linkage and in the process moved and even bent a piece when the old headers became wedged. I straightened that out and put it all back together pretty easily before putting in the new headers. I cycled the column shifter a couple times to see if everything was working and it seemed pretty good. Once I got back on the ground the car had no power. Turning the key to power and jumping the solenoid, it would start. I thought it might be something with the neutral switch wiring so I took it for a test drive to see if all was good with my new headers and was going to look into when I got back. I noticed the car rolled while the shifter was in park, it also starts with the key in neutral, not park though, so I'm assuming the saftey switch is not the problem. I'm guessing the levers must have been in the wrong position when I hooked it back up. Any help figuring it out would be appreciated.
Thanks

Post some photos.

Safety first. Chock the tires for forward and rearward movement.

But my guess is you need to loosen the linkage adjuster on the transmission end. Manually make sure the transmission is in park. Then make sure the shifter is also in park. And adjust the adjuster.

I think you can do this without removing anything, just loosen the adjuster bolt so the shaft can slide.

My first thought as well.

It makes sense, will start in nutral not park. Car not in park when indicator says it's in park.

Linkage is too short so he can not get it into park.

Now that being said, there were other mentions of bent linkage and the like so maybe something was reinstalled upside down????

1...WHAT are we working on?
2....Wander to MyMopar.com and download a free service manual. It is very likely the linkage is simply out of adjustment. Somewhere, "under there" is a clamp screw/ sliding adjustment.
3...You sure you got the neutral switch harness plugged in, which is on the transmission

Its the linkage adjustment. Put the trans lever in park without the linkage hooked up. Then adjust the linkage so it drops in without moving the lever on the trans.

I straightened the twisted lever, which was binding, adjusted the linkage and now it's working.
Thanks
