Carlisle Today......Africa Hot!!!!!!

Hey 4404spd I sat there all day waiting for your car to show up. I have been waiting all year to see that car....
Sorry! I really wanted to show it this year but my wife and I talked about it and didnt feel like doing the 3 day show this year.

I took vacation all this week.I planned to go on sat,but I got a glimps at the weather thursday night, got up friday and decided to go.I wore my fabo hat hoping to meet some of you guys, but it didn't pan out.Oh well there's always next year, and yes it was damn hot.Moneys tight, kid in college I didn't get much just a subscription to MCG and the free T.I did see alot of nice cars though. It's a good thing I'm 45mins away.Cold beer in the fridge and a pool with not so refreshing 89 deg. water.

I just went up for the one day that is all I was planning to do with the heat. Usually I will come up Friday and Saturday but not this year. That was the hottest I have ever seen it up there. Yeah its common for it to be 95 and humid up there but 100 and humid it was pretty dangerous just walking around. I could feel myself starting to get dizzy at times I usually don't have a problem with heat.

I did see your car fastback. As a mater of fact I was a row over in the morning and you started it for someone and cracked into real good I gotta say it made my nipples hard.

Back from Carlisle. I met alot of nice people from fabo. It was that cold down there I was looking for a sweatshirt, not. The 2 nights I was there I had about 7 hours of sleep total. In the heat of the days, it really got to me.the idiots would be partying and hollering till 2 am. I had to get up at 5 for breakfast and get ready for the crowd. There's no place like home. Thanks to everyone who bought things from me and well do it all again next year. Mike.

Glad you liked it.

My trans blew a big leak in the torque converter area on the drive home. I left around 5:00 after getting there at 8:00 and being in the heat all day. Thought the engine blew up at first. Was getting ready to use my towing insurance. I had to keep speeds under 40 mph and stop every once in a while to make sure fluid was still on the trans stick. Had to keep pulling over to let cars in back of me go by cause I had to go slow. The trans never ran out of fluid thanks to deep pan and I was able to nurse it home and trans still shifts good. But leak is really bad and its not due to over filling the trans. Something is messed up trans has to come out. My exhaust is a mess covered in baked on trans fluid and I had big clouds of smoke behind the car. And did I mention it was hot out....

That stinks.I'm kind of dealing with a similar problem.I can't get my pan to seal.I guess I'm going to get a new pan.I hope you have AC in the shop.Mark

I must have drank about 60 oz's of fluid today on the fairgrounds.....still wondering where it went...lol!

Got ya' beat...drank 5 -16.9oz. = 84.5oz. but used the head once after the 2nd bottle...All that water betweeen 8am and when I left at 12:30pm! ...Drank 2 more 16.9oz'er on the way home. I sweat like a m'fer but this poor bastard had me beat!

Hemimark what did they soak you for bumpers? What I saw there were pretty salty for my 72 Demon

I was at Carlisle on Thursday and it was plenty of warm enough for me. After being outside all day for work yesterday,I said "screw it, i'm staying home" today.

Went back in today.... it was noticably hotter today by 11am compared to yesterday at 2pm... We packed the tent and grill up and left the show field at 3pm..... I knew they parked the truck classes up on the hill, but damn that hill got bigger today......

Man, I felt Porky's pain yesterday.

Even today, I've been drinking huge amounts of water and not much coming out. I keep looking to see if I'm growing a hump.

Carlisle '12 will be recalled many years from now......"Remember that year when it was so f'n hot?

Did anyone see the big Chrysler all wadded up in the garage by gate one? That had to hurt(in more ways than one)!!!

There was a thread over on moparts about that car. It was wrecked not long after it was new and sat inside storage. The original owner planned to get it fixed one day then he passed away.

I drank all day and peed about 2 oz. before I headed home. I'll be back tomorrow. I need a few things for my 72 Dart. I drove 140 miles to get there. It was the first time I drove the car more than a few miles and it performed flawlessly. It had a shimmy if I went over 65 mph, but it was great otherwise. I had 46 degrees coming out ofd the air conditioning on the way down and 50 on the way home. It got more than chilly inside the car. I was thrilled.
I got to see a bunch of my Shelby Dodge friends too. Some of them I haven't seen in years. The day was well worth putting up with the heat. Gonna try to get some Petty stuff signed by the "King" tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great day. Keep safe and enjoy thew day tomorrow.

Was that the one with the extensive front end damage? I saw the owner driving it at the end of the day. It drove very well. I also saw it leave on a trailer.

He looks a little dehydrated. He also looks delicious. LOL!

I was there Friday and Saturday, I left at noon to help my nephew wire his new house. It was HOT! I did score a LD340b and the offset for a console to a hurst shifter. I saw 3 guys selling 15" ralley wheels for 1000.00$ a set. I picked up 2 for 125.00, nice deal! Man, it was just too hot.

We caravan-ed up Thursday with friends 66 dart vert. that he was putting in show field and my jeep wrangler. His Dart did spectacular even in the heat & traffic on interstate 95. Went from 7 to 3 Friday & was hottest Carlisle we have endured but great crowd and met one member from South Carolina. Got a couple of nice trim parts for my valiant and a steal on some SB direct connection valve covers(think the dude was delirious from the heat). We just paced ourselves and spent more time in the buildings than ever. Loved the mod top exhibit. Left for home at 5am Sat. morning and was already 80 degrees. so can imagine was even hotter Sat. Sorry to hear about your trans.Fastback, hope it turns out to be minor issue.
