"cheater slicks"

I don't think they make a small enough tire to help a 2.76 geared car. lol a good street gear would be 3.55 0r 3.73.

When i had some 276s in the back i found some 22" tall 15" tires made by purely (spelling) that helped out a lot. It looked kinda stupid with a 26" tire up front, but it worked!

@SSG_Karg

Any worries about the speed rating on those "VW" tires?
Mine are the vw tire size 16580R15 and they have been mounted on 7" rims for several years.
just had them remounted on 4.5" rims last week.

they didn't look that bad on a 7" inch rim but look much better on my new 4.5 rim.

How fast have you had em up to?

I had to go out and look at the speed rating on my front tires and then look up the rating( 118 mph)
here is why i haven't worried about the aka VW tires on my much heavier car.

The speed rating is for long distances at high speeds. The faster you go the more heat you generate and the better the tire has to be at removing that heat to live.
Yes i know centrifugal forces come into play here as well but its the heat the allows it to expand into the danger mode.

How long does a tire take to get up to max temp at 118 mph.
I don't know, but i bet it's a hole lot longer then a 1/4 of a mile.
How long are you going to maintain 118 mph with your street car/tires? if it is these skinny, i bet it's not more than a minute at max.

just my thoughts.

this is how it looked with 7" wheels

I want 100% agree. A likely doing constant speeds of like 60 miles an hour or something on the freeway but when I reach 118 or 120 it's going to be for about 3 seconds.. LOL

These are the front wheels and tires on Jason’s car.

15 x 4.5 1.75 back space wheel with a 165/80/15.

It’s pretty tight on an early a body. We are considering a slightly shorter tire next time.

But they do fit well. Tight, but well.

What width rim? Witch style abody? Do you have a picture of the car to show? Thank you...

They track nice, we'll see how long they last and how they do at speed......
Just went cruzing today. At "normal" speeds they seem quite nice.

Cruzed through the fancy down town area just now. Setting off car alarms and getting lots of not so good looks from all the police that hang out there.

Probably not my smartest idea ever but all's well that ends well!

:rofl::steering::thankyou:

After about 20-25 miles of some "put-er to the test drive" the tires still have Napoles! So far these Nitto 555 should have been nice and impressive. Absolutely much more traction than I ever had on the street before...

All that motor your building for your Dart you're probably going to need some traction...?
Yea I know the plan is whenever I get to the point of installing my 8.8 going ahead and relocating the springs inwards and running like a 265
