Every time the cubic inch thing comes up, I think of that 655 ci beastLol, you and that predator
This is what I did. Used OOTB Edddy 84cc heads with springs to match a smallish street solid roller. I am very happy with the outcome. It runs on pump swill, idles at 900 rpm, has tons of low end ,pulls hard through the middle, spins up over 6000 easily. In my 69 B'cuda with CPPA headers, 4 spd and 3:73 rear it's lots of fun!!470 with 6.700 rods and 1.320 pistons come up with a pretty light bob weight.
Yeah they're great, if I ever go bigger cubic inch I'll drop some compression and run it on pump crap. I'm running tf 240s with 64.5 chambers (milled .086)This is what I did. Halfafish , I would like to thank you for the suggestion at somers machine shop. I went and talked to him for about an hour. The conversation seemed to be productive.one thing that was a little surprising was he didn't like 440 source heads they leaked water.Try Somers Machine in Vancouver.
Glad you got to talk to them - they are great to work with. They built a few slants for me and when it comes time to do the 340 I'll be taking it there.Halfafish , I would like to thank you for the suggestion at somers machine shop. Did he say where/how they leaked water? I know a few people that have them and never heard them complain. Just curious and trying to learn.Halfafish , I would like to thank you for the suggestion at somers machine shop. I went and talked to him for about an hour. Honestly, if you're aiming to make power easier then yes, there's plenty to be made with a 240.470 with 240 head? I read in this thread you needed 270's at anything above 451.![]()
Portland Engine Rebuilders can build anything you want but I don't think they have their dyno working yet. Gray's Automotive in McMinnville has a lot of experience with Mopar stroker engines. They have built all of my engines for the last 30 years and I've built a lot of them. Gray's has an engine dyno which I help run. The dyno is a good tool for verification, especially on a new rebuild.Hi all about ready to pull the trigger on a 451 build with the 440 source kit. first Question. machine shop with dyno and mopar know how in the Portland Oregon metro area and 2nd Question good aluminum heads that will fit up to cppa headers this will be all street driven and only down the track once a year at wood burn. Much thanks
