i bought a suregrip not realizing it was cone type so now i have to use are they really as bad as people let on it is just for stree driving not drag racing? thanks

The only real diffrence is that you cant rebuild a cone type. They can be used for either depending on how much power you plan on putting down.

Generally the cone type is smoother opperating on the street. That's cause it slips easier than a clutch type. If it isn't worn out it'll work fine for you. They can be usually turned down in a lathe if they are worn and get some more life out of them.

thanks its going in my 73 duster 360, i guess i dont feel to bad now paying $225.00 for rebuilt 489 with 355 suregrip just street driving

That would be a kick *** price in my opinion. Use it til it breaks, then worry about finding the clutch type!

You can rebuild a cone style, but it takes some machining process to do so. More difficult than changing clutch plates.
