Getting ready to repaint my dash on my 71 Demon. What paint is the correct paint for it? I know it isnt a flat finish but I know it cant be too shiney or it will glare on the windshield. Using an air gun to spray it.
I used single stage in a rattle can mixed by my local Colours Inc automotive paint supply store. I also sprayed the steering column. Very happy with it. It went on nice and look great. Satin finish. Texture or suede finish is what the factory did to reduce the glare.

Yeah I can tell the finish is different but the color is too. It's way darker.....and it;s not faded. I'm just going to sand it down and hit it with flat red.
That is typical and correct. If you are not happy then by all means change it to your liking! They were that for what was deemed a good reason at the time by some engineering group.
I sprayed the dash, column and rear seat hinge covers on my FB with the TCP Global suede. They were all the same color when original and assumed the best deal was to duplicate it. I liked the very slight wrinkle look it gave me. Looks right and does not shine in your eyes while driving.
Good luck. We tried that on the stripe on my car when it still had its original finish. We went through to the red primer without much effort. It was just worn and faded that much.It just needs refreshing. I am going to try rubbing compound first. that may bring it back out.

I can't answer for '64 but on my '67, the interior has several factory colors so you may have the same.
Maybe these threads will give you some leads on how to hunt down the name and codes.
interior paint
which got me back to here
Interior color.
I used a flat brown (Rustoleum Camouflage Earth Brown)on the whole dash. Then rubbed the face below the pad with 0000 steel wool to bring it up to a matte finish. 2 levels of gloss from the same can...

I got mine from TCP Global, suede finish. Turned out nice, mine was 69 Baltic Blue.
You have to order the paint code from the manual.I just went to the TCP website and searched under suede and all I found were suede metallics. Is there something other I should be searching for?
Not much of a pic Sem Paint. View attachment 1715463967
