Guys,
We just recently got TWO car crushers in town and you would not believe the vehicles that they are destroying! I watched them crush a 55 and a 56 Chev the other day( didn't bother me to much but still), a 67 camaro, and they have got a 68 Notch Back Cuda 3 spd auto in the floor w/ console waiting to go in. I have been there for 4 days pleading with the guy not to crush it! He has promised to call me with a price but I haven't heard from him yet. He probably didn't pay 75 bucks for it in the first place! Don't it just suck?

that really sux.....doesn't he know that selling the parts on Ebay will be more valuable than the recycled scrap.....I'm all for recycling but what these dolts don't understand that selling used parts to rebuild other cars is recycling.

Yeah it sucks. Those were all nice cars, even if they were not Mopars. I wish they crush all the SUV's that clog up the roads and you can not see in front of. Maybe I get to see that when I am a old man someday.

I ran into a similar deal like this in the 80's, these guys are just looking at scrap price. What I did was ask the guy what he was getting per ton from the scrap. If I remember right he said it was $35, I told him I would double that price. Money was money to him so he said deal. It cost me about $120 - $150 per car. But don't wait on him calling you back, you need to be right there when he's doing this. Remembe these guys are lazy that is why they are doing it this way. You need to make it easier on them.

About 15 years ago a yard that i went to alot was shut down by the EPA they had hundreds of old cars including many, many Mopars!
They had dozens of Darts,Dusters,Coronets,Satellites i remember at least 2 fairly complete RR's.
Once the EPA shut it down everything was locked up tight and no one got anything!
They brought in a crusher and spent over a week crushing cars.

I miss that place it was owned by to old guys that would let you roam around the yard all day if you wanted to,we got alot of good parts from them.

*sigh*

It does make the ones we do have more valuable.... Only a glimmer of brightness there.....

I agree!! And the Hondas, toyotas, scions, acuras etc. I also say that when the movie makers destroy old mopars. Why don't they destroy some of this modern junk instead?! But you could make 2 hondas from the steel in that notchback. I have to admit, in 1980 I worked at a car shredder and it makes me sick to remember some of the great cars we shredded.
