Just from these pics alone, 65 383, is it a 2 or 4 barrel?
It could be.Are we sure it's a 383 and not a 361??![]()
65 Polara, base bb was a 383.Are we sure it's a 383 and not a 361?
I thought there might be a giveaway item.2 bbl.
You can tell by the throttle return spring bracket.
Had that air cleaner on my '66 Sport Fury 383 4bbl.Here's a 1965 4 barrel setup I found.

Made me think of this @VaanthThe pictured 383, or possibly 361, is two barrel carburetor equipped. Although it is hard to tell conclusively form the angles of the pictures, which conveniently hide some other clues, an original four barrel on an original intake manifold in 1965 would be a Carter AFB. The left front mounting for the AFB and the intake mounting area would be visible, unless the angle and the debris in that area is hiding it.
The point about the fuel line toward the rear for an AFB, is good, if it was comparing to a Carter BBD 1-1/4 two barrel which has the fuel line entering the front. However, the 1965 383 and 361 original two barrel carburetors were Stromberg WWC models, which has the fuel line entering on the right side, albeit a little more toward the front compared to an AFB.
The 1965 C-body air cleaner for non-California two barrel and four barrel 383 engines was the same. Also the same for the 1965 non-California 413 four barrel, including Imperial, as well as the 361 two barrel in B-bodies.

yep and save the insulator 4 bolters are few and far betweenDiscovered the 65 c-body left engine mount is the same as the 67-68 bb a-body.
Searching the interweb I found pics of 2 barrels with the fuel line in front and on the side.I'm going to say four barrel because the fuel line enters at the passenger side rear. I believe a two barrel would be front center?
Just typing that out above. However, the 1965 383 and 361 original two barrel carburetors were Stromberg WWC models, which has the fuel line entering on the right side, albeit a little more toward the front compared to an AFB.

383 was the base bb in the 65 Polara c-body.The pictured 383, or possibly 361, is two barrel carburetor equipped.
