Drag Truck Part 2 "blackmark redemption"

I was asking about heads, not Jegs vs Summit LOL. Our 440 will not be "old and tired".
The link led to Jegs and that through a red flag for me instantly... if you order them from Jegs and you have any issues you'll have to do their song and dance if you order them from Summit they'll come with a return label...
So you are going to start from the ground up with a fresh prepped block??..

I've been dealing with Jegs and Summit for over 30 years.. LOL. Yes, I prefer Summit. I was looking for the first link I found to the E-heads.
Depends on what all needs to be done, if anything. We'll be getting 440's from motor homes, which in my opinion have stronger blocks with the extra ribs/webbing and stronger ears for mounts. Here is a guy that's used a stock bottom motor home block/heads and just added cam/671, running 10's, and 15 years later still going strong. Don't be fooled by certain things.

I try to follow with out voicing my opinion. but it's hard because I'm not a budget guy.
The E-street head wouldn't be a bad choice, actually it would be good choice.
A 75cc closed chamber would work well on a 440 set up with zero deck flattop piston.
You would have to massage the ports a little , no big deal.

Okay over 30 years lol..
Translation lipstick on a pig...

I'm finding more and more people are choosing these over the RPM's. Just curious, other than price, of why......

Are you going solid cam?
I'm probably going to tap into my speed shops knowledge, tell him what I'm looking for with PRICE the leading factor, and see what he comes up with. I mean, if he thinks I can yank 500 hp out of a .500 lift hydraulic and save the $$$$, I'll have to consider. Also, the heads too. Me not being a big block specialist, LOL, and him building 6 second cars to 16 second cars, we should have a nice conversation.

Price and probably the 75 cc chamber. I believe they flow close to advertised, close.
Reviews are great on them.... but I'm weighing out all options, including cast heads to my SM heads. But only so much money for the motor.... and I got to get it done for the amount that will be left

A 440 with flattop at zero deck with a 300 cfm flowing head, 557 cam for example and a single plane with headers and your at 500 horse

I'm not sure which oil pan the motorhome 400's came with but I'm pretty sure the water pump needs to be changed or the housing or something?..

Another thing you definitely got to look at the numbers on the side because I know at least my motorhome had it 413 in it..
Looked a lot like at 440...

Sounds simple enough. I know getting one horsepower per cubic inch is usually not to hard to accomplish with a street engine. I'm just looking for a little more than 440 hp out of the 440. I think if my truck gets down to 3450 lbs, 500 hp with a good torque curve will move it close to high 10's, providing the gears/converter/traction all works

later models should be 440's, but I don't know the exact years..

500 horsepower is going to be with a hydraulic cam?
Not sure what I'll use yet. Solid cam would be more expensive if I have to buy push rods and rockers. They had 375 hp with exhaust manifolds, factory cast heads and cast intake with a small hyd cam from the factory. Just say'n....

If you do end up needing pushrods, I have done well with these guys on street stuff with their .080 wall. They were reasonably priced, and this is coming from a tight wad.
High Performance - OE Push Rods - Manufacturer & Distributor

Brian has them in his solid roller daily driver.

Edit, Brian used their .095 wall.

what is it? stroker for what and what cubic inch?? what company? That's 2700 dollars you listed, and I still need a camshaft, intake, carburetor, heads, and still would have to pay for the motor. Looks like that could turn into a 4500 dollar motor pretty quick.
