Drag Truck - trying out the 4.30's

-
is it pulling at 6K or just floating there? what is it, harmonics?
how about an overdrive trans?
It likes to be shifted around 5k. The tach will keep climbing steadily, however, beyond 5k it's left the powerband of a stock 318 cam LOL. Actually, at the 3 min 05 second mark of the video, you'll see me shift at 5400 rpms. Still sounds good, clean, and the tach is climbing right on up there. As for the OD, it's crossed my mind a time or two, but at this time the truck won't see enough street time for me to believe it will be worth the swap. We'll see...

Just put um right up against the tailgate. Make "something" that will keep them in place.
In high school my buddy had a 3/4 ton Chebbie 327 4 speed with big pieces of rail road track bolted behind the wheel well. He would bunny hop it in across the school parking lot in granny gear. It would start pulling the front tires off of the ground after a few well timed hops.
Funnier than hell to watch. It would leave little rubber patches both accelerating and decelerating. chirp chirp chirp chirp...

That's funny. I bet that was an NP435. He probably never broke it.

Another small change.... Now on a normal highway, DT will let out a nice bark on the 1-2 shift :) Traction will be my next Action !
