Drilling magnum heads for LA intake

-
Your suspicion is correct
Figures, but still, the size of the holes on the intake alone would allow for some "wiggle" room in "slight" positioning error from drilling, as long as the angle was good. So maybe not doing it by hand but doing it with a drill press seems possible.

looking good > going fast

fight me.
(remember i am three raccoons in a dickies uniform. and i cannot confirm we have all had our shots)
Na you’re to pretty to fight.
I’ll open another can o worms here. If I had the 6 pack and wanted to use it on mag heads, I’d drill the intake in a heartbeat. I’d fill the La holes with the old everlast green machine and hand drill the flanges to 3/8. The 5/16 bolts will drop right through with a washer. Doesn’t even have to be very precise. But I’m not a sticker for resto stuff.

While I wouldn't do it to an original, I'd probably do it to an aftermarket one. I'd probably tig the holes closed though so bead blasting would make it "look stock".

Just so we’re clear the “everlast green machine” is my tig. It’s green

Honestly in a pinch and on an Island or Alaska why not? Drill em and tap em it could be done...I think Id drill and tap at 2 points and get bolts in so it wouldnt move then do the rest etc.

It's the Jar Head in me. Improvise, adapt and overcome.

Point the finger, I gotta know who it is!
The asswipe in the situation here is the member who passed it along to a member with 1 post. Guys have been putting 100% of the blame on the douche that kept it. Why on God's green Earth would anyone trust a brand new member with a post count of 1? Longevity and posts make a difference. I don't want to insult the intelligence of the asswipe member who loaned it to the douchebag but damn, that was pretty dumb.

This is the douche.

Contact chris@bhjinc.com for the BHJ jig. It's a couple hundred dollars though. If you're buying new heads you can get a better casting in the EQ CH318B with LA bolt angle from Engine Quest.

If someone needs the jig a month from now, I can make one. It ain't rocket science, I'm just busy right now.

Thanks for all the replies I purchased the 408 crate motor at Summit Racing with magnum heads on it I think the best thing to do is take a 2barrel intake with gasket and install a sleeve in each hole for a drill and mark the depth on the ends

I got a jig that worked well for me. Drilled to 5/16 thread so it keeps the magnum threads and the new smaller size la threads. I live about 2 hours from you I would guess. I'll see if I can dig it out
