Engine to transmission supports

-
I agree with the many here that just throw them away. I have noticed no drawbacks to doing so.

Don't throw them away, send them to me and I will save them then 20 years down the road when people decide they want them, I will have a pile of them.:D:p:D

No difference between 904 and 727! 9" all 340, 9" 318 80 and earlier, 9" 360 75 and earlier, 10" 318 81 and later, 10" 360 76 and later.

Then why won't the braces on a factory 318/904 combo fit anymore when you replace that 904 with a 727? Same motor....didn't move. All that was changed was the flex plate, the transmission, the driveshaft, and TTI headers. The flex plate, the driveshaft, and the TTI headers didn't have a damn thing to do with the braces.....so what does that leave?

Are you sure the TTIs dont interfere with those braces?
Because my Doug's sure did

Nope. It was a 71 Challenger. JH23G0B....factory 318 car. The 727 that replaced the numbers matching 904 came from a 71 Demon 340 car. Same year model transmissions, and the 904 braces were not long enough to bolt back up to the 727. The lower bellhousing area of a 727 is larger, and shaped differently than the lower bellhousing area of a 904, and that is why the braces are different.

Maybe '71 is the transition year.
The '73 parts book shows the same numbers and applications as the '74. If there was an error, I'd think they'd have caught it, but never know until compare against known examples.

Left Strut with oblong hole. Probably p/n 3681 658

From what I have heard, this mystery of which braces fit what motor and transmission was the next to last Mopar mystery that needed to be solved. Now that y'all have this one solved....see if you can figure out what happened to the missing FK5 Superbird. Only 2 have been accounted for, and they made 3. It's all up to you!

So I got the driver side support from the 360/727 combo. Originally came from a 77 Chrysler newport.

I have not tried it on for size yet but it has an obvious shield.

Now I need to figure out what bolted to the shield.
Something was there, in the grease is an imprint where two nuts once were.

 It might be something specific to the battleship it came out of. You may have to hack it off there to make it fit the Duster......if the brace fits the 904.

Good information there Rain on the 360 Boss being different than the 318's Here is the work around on the 67 Dart with a 360 in it, sleeve on the mount bolt to the trans.

Well that's a fail.

I was going to leave the cute little starter shield on there.

Then I couldn't turn the steering wheel one direction..... Got under the car to see why....

Obviously wasn't made for an A body car

Now you know, that's makes you an expert a little trial and error.

Glad you figured out how to go about finding the correct length bracket on the driver's side as part of it all.
