For the /6 folks

Many comments seem angry that anyone not-vetted by them enter their playground. I'm happy to see it and didn't see them insulting your/my toy. They even increased factory power by 200 HP and are interested in suggestions to do better. I think MPFI would be ideal with boost, but a high threshold which only a few have done (Pishta and now Gil Welding). I have a 1964 slant and drove a 1969 slant for decades, but little time to try much custom stuff.

I don't even know why drag-racers continue fussing over manufacturers and engines, since hard for a gas vehicle to beat an EV in a 1/8-mile race and even 1/4-mile (higher level of competition and risk), unless fabb'ed into a custom toy just for track. Ultimately it is about traction between tire and road at the start, and electric drive controls that much better, with instant response.

Did they ever update what became of the one that blew the head gasket? I haven't seen it if they have.

Not that I'm aware of, & now that MT TV & associated are defunct, no telling what'll become of it.
Keep an eye on Dulcich’s you tube channel. I spoke with him at the beach party a few days ago about that engine and he has it fixed and it will be going back on his own personal dyno and in to his 68 dart. All of which he will post videos about.

Well that’s good news. I’d love to see him work his dyno. I was hoping he’d show it more.

He and Wiley just started the you tube channel and it’s getting better. Freiburger also made mention of possibly doing some video work with Dulcich at his dyno. Hopefully that works out.

I don't really care who plays with what. The point you missed was that they didn't even act serious about it. As if the whole thing was somehow a joke since it was a slant 6. I encourage anyone's participation. I also have the right to my opinion. They acted like it was a joke. If you don't like that opinion, just move on by. The Power Nation build Gill Welding was involved in was much more serious and is the type thing I am looking for.

I really enjoy a stock slant. They're simple, economical, and reliable. I don't get the need to spend mountains of cash for a level of performance that could be eclipsed by a junkyard 318...
With invaluable help from the forum members here, I've had a blast rebuilding the drivetrain (and more) on my wife's '64 Dart. The most memorable advice I received while doing minor mods to the slant while maintaining the daily drivability for the wife was, "If you want to go faster, move the driver's seat closer to the gas pedal." It still cracks me up when I remember that!

I get working with what you have, but this isn’t 1985. One pretty much has to go out of their way to even HAVE a /6 now days. And if you want POWER there are other platforms that are MUCH better suited to that. For budget and mechanical/practical reasons.

If you ENJOY trying to squeeze every last bit of power out of a /6, far be it from me to criticize that decision. How you burn your duckets is up to you.

But taking it SERIOUSLY? If you’re hot rodding a /6 and you don’t see the humor in it…

Well sure I see some humor. But that's all those guys saw. They weren't serious about any of it. Opinions vary. There are people out there making single cylinder junior dragsters run fast. Where's the humor?
