fuel issue,runs rich,pressure problem? or?

Can't find what I'm looking for locally and in the long run I'll save a few bucks if I order a gauge and regulator together. And save on seperate shipping costs. Either way, I should no something soon lol. Just wanted to clarify if a return line was needed or if a regulator alone would be fine.

Well I picked up a cheapo inline pressure gauge. Hooked it up. Fired the engine up and checked it. It stayed about right here 8.5 to 9 psi with the engine cold idling and hot idling. And around the same when throttled... Might have dropped down to around 8 or so when throttled.

So what do you guys think?. You think that's what the problem is?. The summit carb manual suggests 5psi and no more than 7 psi.

I did cob up a brass pipe valve and used it as a make shift regulator . And dialed it down to 5 psi. It was still running rich but might of been due to the plugs being a little fouled now for all I know?.

Anyone care to chime in?

In your initial thread I suggested that you buy a new set of plugs and change a couple as you make changes. This will tell you if youre on the right track when you read them. You can always use a set later.

If that gauge is accurate you have way too much fuel pressure.

Way too much pressure. Should be set to about 6psi.

I metioned in an earlier reply that you need to change the oil if you were dumping gas into the crankcase. Gas in the oil, still an eye burner, not a good thing for the cylinder walls. I changed the oil and filter 3 times to get rid of the gas smell on the dipstick.
