I've brought myself an Avenger RT for a daily driver so the focus on my 68 Valiant has shifted a bit. So summer daily driver has taken a back seat to best quarter mile time :)

It has 380hp create engine and manual shift body 727 with 2800 stall. Stock body and interior so stock weight.

From what I understand a 12 second combo.

Right now its got 2.94 gears with 245 60r15 and Im thinking 4.30 with 275 60r15 drag radials will give the best time??

I like either gear. If you plan on ANY street driving, the 4.30 will be a bit more livable.

if there is any considerable street driving, I'd go 3.91's, 4.10''s tops. Anything higher, without an overdrive, becomes a hassle because of overheating and/or lower cruising speeds.

I plan on zero highway driving, I live 15 minutes outside of Toronto, everywhere else is basically back road driving. 50 mph tops.

Then 4:56s will be your friend. You will be amazed how much your right foot and go peddle will respond to your input.

Going from 2.94 to 4.56 will be like KAZOWEE. I changed 3.23s to 4.10 years ago, couldn’t get over that difference.

LOL
I misted the 2.94 gears
You'll think you added 500 hp to your car!!!

Im liking the idea of the 4.56 but wouldnt 6500rpm be a little to high ?

I was a little disappointed when I bought the car, until I figured out the gear ratio. To feel any of its real power I got to get up to 40 mph in 1st then hammer it. It still moves not too bad for having 2.94 gears.

Depending on trap speed and convert slip you should be closer to 6k through the traps. My 340 with same gear but 27 inch tire is a little over 6k at 105 mph. IMHO 4.56 is about right with a 28 inch tire.

Nope...won't be too high. You probably need to shift at 6200ish and cross at 6500ish.
