Gettin frustrated

Took the Dart to muffler shop tryin to get it up on the rack and the lokar throttle cable pulls out of bracket and revs engine over 5000 get it back in place go to leave and drop two cylinders limp home cable keeps comin out fixed two plug wires still not hittin on 8 bout ready to give up every time I fix one thing something else goes wrong might b for sale soon

with her running like that you're gonna get HOSED on the car - take a day or two off and forget about it - - clear your head... sometimes the most frustrating things have the easiest solution..

Two things come to mind. A temporary throttle stop on the carb to keep it from opening too far and doing something different to keep that cable in place. Just take some time away from the car and think about getting the lokar cable fixed. Call the company for advise, even if you dont follow it.

35 plymouth I'm working on, customer wanted that lokar garbage throttle cable and kick down setup......i tore it off an hr after it went on. Worst setup ever, too much resistance in the pedal, ratio sucked on kick down....junk. I took the pedal ,cable, rod and bracket off a 72 valiant instead, perfectly functional now.
Take a breath...it's the part selection that's very important, go back later and rethink it.

Its time like this you need to isolate and fix one issue at a time. Yes it is frustrating. For your own sanity post some pictures of your set up and describe your ignition system and issues. I for one know that department store plug wires are crap, period. If that is what you have go buy good wires, The summit racing brand are supposed to be very good for the money. Avoid low end, brand name wires too.

and when you do get new wires, pay special attention to #5 and #7, they are easy to swap

as for the cable, I'm not seeing how it can pop out IF it is properly installed and adjusted
there is a not on each side of the bracket correct?
if that is the case, the only other option I see is the outer cable being too short
or...perhaps...the kick down set up is out of wack and that is contributing to the problem ?

best thing to do sometimes is to walk away from it for a while.

The outer sheath of the cable is whats coming out of the bracket and wedgeing on the bracket which pulls the inner cable

Work on something to hold the sheath a few inches behind the bracket. We have a set in a 'Cuda that works fine, but its routing keeps the the sheath from moving back. If you have to, make a small bracket to bolt down that adds some restraint on the sheath.

if that is the case, I would imagine the outer cable to be too short, because its should "lock" itself into place by its shear lengts

I would still like to a picture of your set up, but with as little force as there should be on this outer sheath, you should be able to secure it by putting a little zip tie or something on there

That is the spot where ours has pulled out before when I was working on things. A simple strap extending back from where the bracket bolts down with a hole in it for a tie wrap or 2, or small hose clamp, to the sheath may be good to hold it in place.

I hope the 2 cylinders come back online OK.

Ya thats where its coming out been driving the car off n on for 4 months
Don't know why it just started gonna check mtr mount on drv side by the way it's the black universal cable

yeah, i would check the engine for excess movement, and the cable for snags
if it has been good for 4 months and now starts acting up something must have changed
(who knows, you may have dropped a wrench down there)

Found broken mount on drivers side

There you go, when that small block revs up it winds up towards the passenger side, and that broken mount will allow the engine to lift up and away from the gaspedal

I can see how that can pop the cable
