So very sorry for your loss, it never gets any easier to say goodbye and it's just more difficult at this time of year. She was a part of your life for 17 years and you were her best friend and whole world. She has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and no longer has any pain or ailments.
Rest in peace Maggie.

I second all of this. The hardest hurt of all.

Very sorry for your loss. I know the feeling all too well. I swear I think it gets harder every time we lose one, even knowing what to expect. We know that it's coming someday when we get chosen by a dog or other animal, so all of the love they give from 1st day to their last day makes the pain worth it. Our little Bella is 9 and we hope to have a lot of years left with her.

R.I.P. Maggie.

Deepest sympathies from our home. Nothing seems to hurt as much.

When you need a dog's love again, please rescue.

I grew up around Basset Hounds and Dachshunds. Seemed my family liked the low-riders. I loved them, but somehow ended up with Huskies for life.

Beagles. They just suit me. I've had 10 over the years, mostly rescues. Smart, social, and loyal to a fault. If they have one drawback, it's their single-mindedness... when their nose hits the ground, their ears turn off!
But who can resist those big brown eyes and long floppy ears? Not me.

I've been through a lot of pet breeds throughout my lifetime, but in my opinion....the golden retriever is the best overall for love of kids, and just most laid back breed I know of.
We currently have a German Shephard, a Miniature Dachshund, and a Black Mouth Cur/Corgi mix.

Lost him February of 2024 and still miss him every day. He was a GREAT dog and an even better companion! Carbide, we will see you again!

I had a golden retriever... For less than a week, took it back to the "friend" that had pawned it off on me... Dumbest dog I've ever seen... Barked all night for the first three nights... Never made a sound on the forth night.... That night thieves broke in to the shed & stole a tool box......
Dog stole two steaks off the kitchen counter.. I guess it didn't like the taste of raw steak cause an hour later it ate it's own ****...

These buttheads are the same way as Beagles. Red Tick. Her name is Scamp, had her for nine years. Rescued her when she was three months old. Showed/trained her on the boundaries around the yard. Very good with people, very loyal, and even a little protective of property. When she was younger, that nose was the boss.
