This is a review of @halifaxhops slant 6 HEI conversion plate and kit. You can see the fit and finish is great. He includes all the necessary connectors to wire in a GM 4 pin HEI module. The only small issue I had was that the pickup wires are a tad short. They aren't tight mind you, but I plan to add some more wire in soon and then it will be ready to install and test. I'll have more on it after that. Ray, I'm sorry it's taken me this long. I actually put it up and then promptly forgot about getting the extra wire. I'll get some this week, finish up the installation and show the finished product. Then, I'll do an install and road test and report back. As I say in the video, even though the module is mounted under the distributor, as long as you use the splash shield, you'll be ok. This newer version of the bracket allows for the shield to remain in place.

I've run a similar set up with no splash shield in the Uk for the last 20 years an no problems what so ever. if its a fair weather car it will be fine without....drive creeks and fords and on the beach maybe not

mine is all home brewed piece of angle clamped to the dizzy body with a big hose clamp and the hei module mounted on it.... if there had a been a nice product for mounting at the time i would have had it, my skills in this area are strictly "bodge It" give me a hacksaw and i can make a mess .... Looks like a great solution from halifaxhops... makes it look like a proper professional job.

here is the grotty filthy mess in 2002 at the start of the journey...when you are 30 you don't care, as along as it runs. ...notice my one special rocker.... :). that coil was a bad move... proper hei one used in later years, you live and learn

Yeah, I didn't think it was an issue either. I addressed it because I've seen the concern in other threads regarding the slant 6 HEI conversion. As long as good quality connectors are used, like Ray includes in his kit, you're good. I even plan on going so far as to seal the back side of the connectors with RTV.

Again Rob, you make this very clear in your video that this IS a great peice of what I call a up grade for our slant six engines, and Ray has been a great addition to this site in many ways, I have his distributor he set up for my 360 build and it is doing a super job for me as I undoxed it and straight in my dizzy hole, and I am positive that this upgrade and ready to run is as well my friend, thank you for yet another informative video.
Two great minds and techniques on getting a better system in our mopars are a blessing to this site
Thank you both

Jeez RRR, now you’re on the web?
I feel so antiquated. I’ll subscribe to your channel. Wondering if the voice I hear in my head matches your actual voice. lol!
Nice work.

Thanks Rob, Appreciate the feed back fixed the few issues. I get tunnel vision on my own stuff.

It's a nice-looking item. I built an HEI system for an '87 Grand Fury to eliminate the lean burn, only to find that the electrical system couldn't supply enough juice to fire the HEI during hot starts , even with a relay. I probably could have rewired this, added a relay to that, upgraded something else, but in the end I went to the junkyard, got a factory Mopar ECU harness and ballast, installed it and never looked back.

The HEI system needs full 12 volts, can either bypass or eliminate the original ballast resistor.

Needs a properly matched coil for HEI like the Petronix 45,000 volt Flame Thrower III, or the E-Core 60,000 volt generation of high energy coils.
