Hard heads...

BUT the thing is, there are a lot of gear heads out there that are pretty smart. Maybe not pros, but mechanical smart. I consider myself one of those, Smart enough to figure it out, sometimes by asking the right questions to the right people. There is one thing we all have in common, we love to turn wrenches and driving our beloved Mopars. Doing something not many can, restore and keep running our:thumbsup: vintage iron.

Open forum = discussion / point and counterpoint. Does it often read argumentative? Yep. How often is that simply ones perception of what is read? Anyway...
The end goal is everyones "happy moparing" and we always get there, One way or the other.
Thanks to all who contribute/carry the ball.
Yes Sir, perception. This has been my argument all along. Some of the more extremely helpful, most educational folks on here often times, to me, come across as more than a bit obnoxious. It's one thing if you offer advice to someone, and 40 posts later you are just repeating word for word what you have said 7 times...completely understandable that you would be a bit agitated. Often times I see this agitation on the initial response. If helping folks is that annoying to you simply don't. But what the hell do I know...

I've said this before, I think a big problem is modern tablet devices. I don't think people "think" with them the same way they do a "real" computer. The screens are smaller, graphics are more difficult to deal with. The "new improved" software on this site bundles up quotes and makes them somewhat hidden. There is a number of issues, besides just "not payin' attention."

And no, I don't copy/ paste much, except the links I post to other threads, MAD, the MyMopar sources and so on.

I DO admit that sometimes I don't read as closely as I once tried.
Well Sir, perhaps you should find some of the your comments and save them so you can copy and paste. Would be a big time saver..
Can't blame you for not reading as closely as you once tried. I have observed more than one member that you tried to help pick and choose from your advice. Have seen you ask, several times in the same thread, "do you have the factory service manual". Have seen you offer electronic advice, offering up a simple to follow 1-12 type of advice...only to see the poster skip from step 1 to step 9 and then attempt to tell you you were wrong.
I greatly appreciate the the time some of you folks spend trying to help...

A lot of time people ask vague questions then even thats ok sometimes cause they might not know what they want but then never narrow the conversation to what fits them.

What should I do to my 318 for extra power for example..

Leaving the door open for many conflicts.
Like wars about CR, 302 heads, velocity, 360 heads, 360 swap, gears, etc....

And the problem is we love spending others money lol

Sometimes I think the problem especially when talking to newbies. Will say 340 cam, 4bbl and duels which sound advice and less chance for screw ups but if you don't give reason why to use those parts the one asking really has no info to base their decisions on. That's why I try to give info on why to choose instead of what to choose mostly.

But I have notice people seem to be at each other's throats more lately.

Part of wisdom - if you don't know the answer at least figure out who you can trust to get it from....
Very first auto shop teacher I had told us something very similar to this...you don't have to know everything to be a mechanic, you just have to know where to look for the stuff you don't know..,

He quoted Albert Einstein.

I also try not to spend other peoples money just because I'm on the Internet. Although sometimes when you want to run a certain time certain things certain way, it is just pricey and there's no way around it. I spent too many years doing things on the cheap. It's just a matter of simple, I don't have the money. So I get it. When people try to do things and expensively, I totally understand and try to help with that very manner. I do what makes sense. But of course may not always be the best way to get some things done.

It don't matter how much you try, you can't help me. I'm a know it all. lol what I don't know is in the service manual or the 35 years + Mopar mags.

LOL
You need a body camera to record every movement so in this case you can just rewind it, to find your 1/2 wrench.

Shucks, that's the stuff engineering degrees are printed on!

This is THE very reason I stopped offering advice on Internet forums...I may ask questions but....

Same here.

Like Rob, I don't know everything. When I had my shop I had a couple of trusted mechanic friends on speed dial so I could bounce ideas off of. I was also their go to for the same reasons.

I used to be heavily involved in the how-to sections on here. Once I started getting pounced from Johnny Shadetree telling me how wrong I am on just about everything I stepped out and figured enough is enough.

Sure, you left it the door before you assembled the panel. Rattle, what rattle?

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left....

My brother probably borrowed it because he lost his 13 mm...

He always borrows my 1/2" and 13 mm wrenches and I can't find them most of the time...

people want to her what they want to her. they want someone to confirm their erroneous ( spelling? ha) ideas maybe..

That sounds like my former father in law. He called me one time to confirm his diagnostics on an issue and he was about 180° off what was really going on. I spent almost an hour on the phone with him explainimg to him that the symptoms had nothing to do with what he thought was the cause. He just called to have me back up his thinking, no matter how wrong it was instead of wanting to get headed in the right direction.

I told him, eventually, to do what he thought best and them call me back when it didn't work and I'd be happy to tell him what needed to be done.

An hour spent on the phone trying to convince someone who'd already made up his mind. A complete waste of both our time.

I remember one of you guys trying to tell me my tailpipe bearing was bad, and you diagnosed my problem as, it has got to be a bad turn signal relay, located in the glove box. I am still looking for that relay!???? I still believe it is part of the alternator??
O K I admit I own maybe 8 half inch wrenches, and I can find maybe 2....ha
