Ok guys, you know I have to put my 2cents in. I can't help it, must be my breeding, lol.
Working dogs like APBTs, rotties, GSD's, etc. require training on a daily basis. Watch youngun 2.0's vid (BTW, well done younggun!). I do this with my dogs daily so they know that I'm the boss and if they listen, good things happen. It's called positive re-enforcement and is the best training method availible. When the ghetto crackheads with no self esteem, confidence or a clue as to how to train get a hold of one of these dogs, bad things are sure to happen.
Next note, dogs are like people in one sense and that is that even with identical training and eviromental stimuli, one can be more aggressive than another and sometimes to a fault. Every now and again a dog is born that is just freakin' unmanagable and needs to be put down, just like some psycho people on death row. I think it's exceedingly rare though, maybe one in 100,000. This is my opinion though and I can't prove it.
Note 3. This is all about control. All dogs should ALWAYS be under control of the owner. A dog left to it's own devices immediately switches to the pack mentality. This means that it will find a pack and that pack leader will always be the most agressive and strongest dog in the pack and that's when once again, bad things happen. I'll bet that pit that attacked Idaho was totally docile when in the company of the owner, it's pack leader at home. Let loose, the dynamic changes and all hell breaks loose. I love my dogs and dogs in general but you all can be sure I'd put a bullet in the head of a stray dog/dog pack that was attacking me or my dogs, and if mine got loose and attacked someone and they had to kill my dogs, I'd apologize profusely to them and buy them another box of bullets, then I'd go home and cry because it was my own damn fault that my dogs were dead.
Note 4. I am not a criminal nor am I anti-social. I even have clearances for work that's really nobodies business.
It's just a damn shame that there are so many people that get a dog to shore up some personality defect and these are the ones that cause all the problems we see on the news.
Note 5. Big dogs are fun!
