Don't know how the hell I got there though. Temperature was mid 90's. Drank over a gallon and a half of good old fashioned water.
Remember my Az days.....2.5 gallons a day, year round.
Remember years ago my Dad ended up in the hospital, dehydrated....5 times in 3 weeks. He didn't quite understand that sweetened tea was the worst thing for him during the hot months.

I was a carpenter for 20 years 5 gallons of water a day , couldn't piss a drop thataint right . So what I learned POTASIUM IS THE ANSWER . keep some McDonalds salt or fast food resterant salt with you , eat a pack in the morning and 1 in the afternoon it really makes a difference from swetting all your hydration out and keep your shirt on so the sun cant directly dehydrate you . I always wonderd why all the old farmers wore long pants and long shirt . It:s forrealit does work ,,,, stay safe in the Sun and heat HAGR812

I wound up in the hospital ER a few weeks ago from dehydration. Did a car show on Sunday in an asphalt parking lot in 95° heat with a heat index over 104° followed by a day without power in the house due to severe T-storms. Slept in brutal heat and woke up with atrial fibrillation. Pulse 130, no regular heart rhythm at all.

I thought I had been drinking enough liquids, but apparently not.

An IV of saline and an hour later I was fine. Still, it wasn't a fun day.

I learned after that to make doubly sure that I'm drinking enough water every day regardless of how I feel. I measure it each and every day to make sure it's at least 64 oz as a base and more when it's hot or I'm sweating.

I also make sure my electrolytes aren't being depleted either. Sodium, potassium and calcium. Just water won't replace those.

2 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar in 8 oz of water with a shot of honey to taste. Start your day with that and then drink your 64oz of water per day. I used to drink diet coke by the big gulps. Peed more than I drank! Then started drinking a gallon water jug a day and pee breaks went down to like 3.

Can sodium, potassium and calcium be had in supplement form, say pills? I have been dehydrated before just never had it kick my arse like this....

Will be giving this a shot. Thank you Sir

switch your tea, if you drink it, to green tea, thro in a qt or more of gator aide (your flavor) w/ all that water. gatoraide works great for me !

My wife always wanted water delivery service, the ones where you get a cooler and they deliver 5gal bottles. I said no for years even though our tap and filtered fridge water was bleh. I just could not justify $40 a month for something that comes out of the faucet.

I finally gave in after the prices of our fridge filters were adding up. One of the best things we ever did. The whole family stopped drinking juice drinks and pop because they prefered the water. I lost 10lbs the first month and started sleeping better and feeling better. I drink at least 5 32oz bottles a day now. Haven't had a pop in months.

Beer, that's another story.........

The post I made putting the "new" camper onto the whale I might have been close. At one point I drank a bunch of water and just went in the house and crashed. I remember being EXTREMELY "worn out"

So today I..........(thought I nearly had a stroke, heat, anyway)
Still feeling "off kilter". I normally am out of bed by 5:30, I just sit at the table, trying to gather my thoughts. I was out of bed this morning g at 4:15 or so....almost feel like I used to after a day of heavy "self medicating"...aka drinking. I pretty much stopped drinking, least real heavy, about 8 years ago, lot of things changed when the stress of going to work went away.

All of our drinking water, least from home, is from our RO. Got one in AZ, took 7 tries to get a drinkable pot of coffee one morning. Ever since then we use an RO. The dogs even get RO water, at least when they are in the house.
I need to cut back on my coffee intake...I am sure that is not helping

Drinking only water may not be a great thing. You sweat out electrolytes and need to replenish them. Potassium and Sodium are pretty important to muscle function. Ask a heart attack patient about Potassium and supplements. They regularly prescribed a potassium supplement.

Any of the sport drinks are pretty good for replenishing. Watch out for the sugar content, it's pretty stout on sugar for any of the non Zero calorie products. IIRC, a 32 oz garorade has the same sugar content as approx 1-1.5 12oz can of Pepsi/Coke. I'd prefer the zero stuff, BUT, the sweetener they tend to use makes me sick.

At work Monday and Tuesday, had to spray in a booth, at 85 plus degrees, in a tyvek suit with hood and booties. Full face respirator also. Sweated so much Monday my shirt was soaked totally. Did same thing Tuesday, legs cramped trying to take suit off. Woke up today, Wednesday and felt like crap.

Yes they can. You can get calcium and potassium supplements in any drug store. Sodium is easy since it's just table salt. You can also get salt tablets.

Another thing to consider is that the RO water you are consuming is very low in dissolved minerals because they are removed by the process. This means you aren't getting any electrolytes from the water like you would with natural spring water. All the more reason to pay attention to supplements or drinks like Gatorade that are formulated with supplemental electrolytes.

Gatorade really is liquid gold when it comes to hydration when you are sweating out your electrolytes.

Wife & I had some errands to run today. I had her to most of the driving...I ended up dozing off for a good part of our trip today. Just feel like I got dragged around by a bus.
Thanks for the tips. I use a fair amount of Sea Salt daily, don't know if that is a good thing. I normally have a beer when I am cooking dinner on a BBQ. Going to stop that for a few days.
Suppose to cool off some by the middle of next week.
I thought we had Apple Cider Vinegar, but was wrong. We picked up some today in addition to some Gatorade. Not a real big fan of Gatorade but will drink one throughout the day. I have to replace the injectors in my truck, garage temperature was at 110*when I went out there at about 4 this afternoon. Garage was closed all day. I may wait until the middle of next week to go work on it...

Wow..You all got me thinking...I can't remember the last glass of water I drank( hate it) I go through 6 or 7 cans a day of diet Mt Dew as my only liquid. Have been really drug out lately..want to sleep all the time.blamed it on the oxycodone. Going to force myself to drink water and see if I feel better. Thanks

If you are on an oxycodone regiment (been there) you should be drinking lots of water.

We get weekly and sometimes daily tailgate meeting about drinking water, and not going into attics unless they are lit, floored and force VENTILATED. We had a guy out in the inland empire (HOT) pass out in an attic about 8 years ago for 30 minutes. The homeowner had to call 911 and have the firemen drag him out. Heat exhaustion/heat stroke is some serious chit. Get off that Mountain Dew! start drinking water and youll feel much better. I bought distilled water on accident one day and drank it all, still felt weak! No minerals....

I think oxy (opiate) plugs you up faster than MRE peanut butter. You need that water to keep the logs rollin', you know?

What do you do for a living? When I was with the USPS in Phoenix we had weekly safety talks...several times a year it was about staying hydrated. We also heard about the proper technique for shoveling snow so...
I have been on Oxycontin/Oxycodone for years. Ain't enough water on the planet to keep me from getting stopped up...

gents, the key to hydration, is you have to be well hydrated prior to being in the heat. If you aren't pissing clear before the car show, etc, you are already playing catch up..

also the artificial sweetners in the diet sodas are straight toxic. They are linking all kinds of symptoms to them. Effects on the body mimmick MS, some nasty stuff. Everything is ok in moderation, but drinking that much soda and no water, you are a ticking time bomb for a massive kidney stone..

not to mention dehydration will have severe effects on the way you sleep as well. It's your bbq, but I'd say you know what to do

Same here on the oxy Ink....but at least you're smart enough to drink water. I need to force myself off the Dew and on to water.Hope you get better..it sucks to feel like crap all the time.

I work For the telephone company. Frontier (Verizon) out her in CA. Those attics get mighty warm, and the blown in insulation is a real b!tch. Matter of fact, thats a new "Sorry, Bub" excuse not to go up there, "blown insulation".

PS> I was listening to a call in lawyer show and a guy was so constipated from opiate Oxy that it required surgery to clear and repair a torn colon. He asked if he had a claim against the Oxy Perscribing Doctor for not getting a matching perscription for stool softeners. Lawyer said absolutely.

Believe it or not..Banana's and re-fried Beans solved that problem for me...at this time any ways. Don't understand why but it's working.
