Thanks everyone, Dad wasnt up to the trip, so my youngest (20 yr old) came with me for the drive. I was thinking on the way up there that Connor has been my wingman for most of my extended runs, wherever we go. The trip was exhausting, but I knew it would be, we left Monday at 2 in the afternoon and got to Sioux Lookout by around noon on Tuesday. Thru the entire trip we didnt see a single moose or deer! Kinda disappointed we were both really looking forward to seeing a moose for sure. We did encounter a tractor trailer roll-over though! This was in Hearst, which is about the 1/2 way point. We pulled over to see if they needed help and sure enough they did as tractor was on its side and the entire load was all over the place in the ditch. Driver was trapped in the truck, so we took dads long handled ice chopper and smashed out the windshield. There were about 4-5 guys there helping, and we were about to pull him out, but thats when firetruck, ambulance and OPP arrived. So that was our cue to get the heck outta there. We donated a Toronto Maple Leaf blanket for the cause(cover the driver up while we smashed the windshield) I think the truck driver fell asleep, there were no skid marks nothing and he wasnt off the road too far, maybe 40 ft so he wasnt travelling too fast, but it was quite a mess and adrenaline rush. Lots of amazing scenery and a touching memorial to Terry Fox, a true Canadian Hero!! We took a fair amt of pics and I will post them when I can.
This position will allow me to work in both the water and wastewater field. And both of their treatment plants are the same type that I studied in school, so their is a familiarity with these systems. The interview went very well(one of the gentlemen said so) and was about an hour long. Im glad we made the trip up as it showed my determination and they said that as well. They know about my other job offer that I verbally accepted so they said they will let me know by today or the beginning of next week.
Another position has been posted in the Windsor/Chatham area that I am applying for, although it may add to the chaos it is a hell of a lot closer than the other 2 places. Round trip was 3800 kms, and done in 4 days with 1 night in a hotel, so I think Connor and I did pretty good!! Thanks again, will post pics when I get a chance.
