i meant not just for the track
ok well all i can tell ya is dont let some one not nameing name bully u as u can see not all of us are like that i wish i had a book to help with the #s but i dont post some pics and some one that know more than just on thing will help u pm me if u need help getting around here i see ur new

They were all considered low buck race cars. Granny didn't order a 340 4speed to go to church in (at least most grannies). Fix it up, enjoy it ,and love it for what it is but I don't think it has any extra added value above and beyond that of a 69swinger340.

how is anything posted in this thread bullying someone???????????????????????? We are just atating the facts. He thought it was a rare car. And then posts worth 200k fixed up. That is not the case.

Same as stroker scamp. People do not like it whaen others are straight forward about things. I was just stating the truth, and not candy-coating it.

So, what was your point again?

the 8B portion would indicate 1968. The 274817 would match the last 6 digits on your VIN tag. Since it doesn't, this indicates it's not the 4-spd the car was born with.

Some of us understand that you are new to these, and are going by the stories you are hearing. From my experience, stories always get better with age :)

disc brakes were optional on 69 Darts for all models.

The 340 car would have come with HD leafs and the extra leaf on pass side.

Neat car, not anything of a "special" nature from any other 340 swinger of the same year.

dose any one know any thing on a "special 340 swing" did anything ever exist that was, i jsut want to know just to know i have been reading everything that i can get my hands on i want to find out as much as i can. just since i signed up here i have learnd alot thanks everybody this is a cool place

"Special" not a chance... It's a basic everyday, back in the Day 340 Swinger. There would be markers on the fender tag that would designate something different and it has none. Run of the mill 340 swinger. My only caveat to that is if it had some famous racer pedigree, then it may be worth a little bit more than any other Dart swinger 340 car.

I'd bet it came from the factory with a 8.75 rear and someone swapped in the Dana 60. Happened often when the original 8.75 got detonated.

Are you sure it has the DANA in it? Cant wait to see some pics! There is alot of good help on here man and I think you are handling some of this better than others would. Welcome to FABO man. Pics are easy once you get the hang of it. Go to advanced right below. Then manage attachments and browse for youre pics wherever they are stored on your comp. Select them then upload you should see them as an attach it may take a minute then comment on them and post. Give it a try!!!

I've seen one '69 Swinger 340 with an oddball "Swinger Special" tail stripe . The stripe was factory ( V8W ) and original , as was its paint
( medium green metallic ) .
It was a Canadian build for Canadian consumption ; and no , it wasn't one of the '71 - '72 Swinger Special 340 models .

I used to have photos of the car and its oddball stripes , however the pics were taken over 20 years ago and I cannot find them anywhere ...

did it work on the pic?

I've seen "Western Sport Specials", but never a "Swinger Special". That would be a cool stripe.
Did they ever build Swingers in Canada?
