Help me hook this thing up... I have the Chevy guys gunnin' for me...

SS Spring, NO Slapper bars!!! pinion snubber, as much meat under that you can get. Drive it and have fun. Bet it hooks with 3.55
also agree on front end travel and loose shocks. IF it don't hook forget about the caltracs. spend you money on good double adj shocks ($$$) In the rear!

Sweet... I'll definitely consider that rear disc since I have to buy all my brake pieces anyways... almost a no brainer?
There's basically nothing from the car I can use doing a 408 swap from a slant 6. lol
Thanks!
Thanks for the compliment. I agree that's too nice of a car to cut up, same reason I won't tub mine. If I wanted a bigger tire I would get a different car. I think you'll be able to get a 255 drag radial in there, and you're 3.55 will be fine with the stroker.

Don't be afraid to go the cheap route like I did and have one leaf added to the front segment of each spring, only $50 per side. It strengthens the front segment just enough that you don't need a traction device or a pinion snubber. I did have to add one inch lowering blocks since it raised the car up some but that's no big deal.
Good luck with it!

I also added rear disc brakes to my 8.75 with a very affordable bolt-in kit from Right Stuff Detailing, I bought the kit from Summit Racing. Part number MDCRDM1.

Is there a preference between a pinion snubber and traction bars? My thought was the traction bars reach further forward but since the snubber is at the front of the carrier... they could be similar that way. Ground clearance is an issue with the bars too I guess...
Thanks for that

I would clamp the front segment of the leaf spring before i put any kind of slapper bar aka Traction bars. and mine are clamped!!!
you aren`t running the h.p. I`m talking about, but my old hemi car tore up pinion snubbers no matter how they were set, and couldn`t keep front spring clamps located right. we were running 002-003 springs and nothing else but 14 and 16' slicks. It carried the wheels to the second gear change , the few times it really hooked up. Track prep was pretty bad back then, and firestone slicks were the only ones that came close to working . -Back then.

I like traction bars.... they don't work as well as caltracs, but they work. I will tell you, if I brake torque my car off idle to about 1400 rpm's, the back end raises up about 1 1/2 inches. that's applying about 200 lbs of pressure to the back tires (kind of like putting 200 lbs in the trunk for traction, except your not adding the weight). At the track, when I floor it out of the hole, I bet my back end comes up about 2 full inches (one legger, regular radial tires, no spinning :) ) and the car hooks. ....... besides, I kind of like that old school look :D

Nope, thats for sure!!!! I get excited when someone take a pic of me leaving the line and it looks like i could slide a piece of paper underneath the left front tire.
The Traction Bars just says CHevvy to me. Not meant to offend 318! And they will either Bend the Hell out of your spring or if done right will work. the problem is most just buy a kit and install it. Most i see have the rubber nubbed loading the leaf spring instead of the spring eyelet.

My Dart is next in line after we finish the Chev thats hogging the hoist. I'm trying to get all the bits together and pre-fitting what I can to keep the project short. So I thought I'd share a couple pics. I have a Mancini drop base coming for the air filter... and I lost my pulleys somehow... 904 is beside the bench... I still only have an empty 8 3/4 housing so I may just call Dr. Diff and get it all at once.
Cheers
