Her 72 scamp.

Im starting to think that it needs a black butt stripe, a go wing, and TA exhaust tips sticking out infront of the rear wheels.

Nice little car, looks real clean. I have two questions. The first one is, how well is the ground clearance with the 2" drop? Im wanting to get leaf springs with a 2" drop to them and was wondering how well they will work out as far as ground clearance. Second, did you have to make your brakets for your console yourself, they look good? I have a console ill have to make brakets for later, just wondering if ya have any tips on doing it.

congratulations !!!! That is awesome

Fine job dun. :salute:

Thanks!!!
It wouldn't have gotten this far if it werent for all the help from you guys!!!

Im used to building older stuff like 50's and older and this is the newest car I have ever restored (sounds kinda weird comming from a 28 year old).

The console brackets were an ebay score I got them for the cheap price of $90.00 . Right now they are just duct taped in place so I can get them just right but I think that I will chop off about 1/2 inch on them so the console sits a little lower. I think that the stock position is too high and it looks kinda goofy so Im ganna do something about it.

As for the ride height Im not sure yet. I have a set of heavy duty springs that are going in as soon as I clean and paint them. The front end looks like it will clear bumps and stuff but I still have to try and alighn the front wheels and level it out with the T-bar adjuster bolts.

Dodgenut64... I will take some close up pics and measure ments of the brackets next time I take them out. There are way too many guys out there that need them and dont wanna pay the prices I did (often times way more) for these brackets. I have seen them go for $170 and that is just for the brackets, no shifter or console included.

Anyone know if the brackets were all the same for the A-body automatic consoles through out the years? I know that they had some different desighns for the console but I thought that it was just the top plate that was different.

I agree it would look good with a black tail stripe,it would help break up all the purple.
How soon until it hits the streets?

Man, I think it's beautiful the way it is, but dressing it won't be a bummer either. Personal taste(as long as you don't rice it) makes us MOpar people cool.

Im ganna piss some people off with this one...

Yes they are originals off a 70 AAR Cuda and YES they are going on a 72 scamp with a slant six!!!!!!

It should be on the road sometime this summer.

:angry7: I haven't really done anything to it for about 2 months now. I did put on the passenger door seal when I went out to the garage to smoke last week but other than that I have done jack **** to it. I just got burnned out (it happens about every 6-8 months) I look at it and can see it on the road but I just dont care. For a while my 73 was taking up all my time but I yanked the 360 and there is a guy comming over tomorrow that is all excited about buying it. I have been spending most weekends in my dads shop that is an hour away working on my 53 mercury pick up (it's getting the 360 from the 73). I used to work in a rod shop and I sold a 74 dart that was cherry just because the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was look/ work on another Fing car.
Nikki keeps bugging me about wanting it on the road by the end of summer so I need someone to get on my *** and get me remotivated!!! Cars are dumb but god damnit if I don't love the hell out of them. ](*,)

Here is a link to the pics. I moved them to a new folder in photobucket so it broke all the links I had on here.

Well after a while I got off my *** and started to work on the 72 when Im not working on the 53. I decided that I didn't like the stock console shifter set up and the B&M Quick Silver shifter I got is going in the 53 so I figured that an A-100 and an A-Body are kinda the same (mopars) so Im making the shifter work.
DSC05153.jpg

All the letters line up with the shifter perfectly.

I think I will counter sink the bottom of the shifter into the floor by welding in a small "box" for it to sit into so I can get the console as low to the floor as I can.

I still need to make new mounting brackets for the console and get a cable that will work with the shifter (B&M cable) so I MAY have a set of original brackets and shifter stuff for an A-body (yes, including the little L-bracket for a 904) whan I am all done with this set up I will post an ad for it all here and not on ebay.

Good God I worked on it!!!

Sunny weekend in Seattle (for once) so I pulled it out, washed it and worked on it.

I scrapped the 500 Eddy idea and am going with a Holley 390 this way I wont have to swap cams right away and we can get it on the road faster. I used one of the 450's off my T-ram for set up The fuel line is just a mock up from some scrap that was in the pile. The real line will be 1000 times nicer.

I picked up a pair of fog lights at a truck stop for 40 bucks because they have a purple tint to them and the damn things bolted right to the tab with the hole in it in front of the core support and they are the perfect hight.

Damn, I must have done something right all the lights work, the horn blows, and the motor cranks over!!! I also fineshed all the wireing.

I still have to get a new set of calipers for the KH disks, take out the dash frame and steering column so we can paint them body color, get the glass put in, order seat covers, get the exhaust done with the NOS pair of TA challenger tips, finnish the console, and about 1 billion other little things that I can't remember. THEN we are going to do a scratch and shoot once it is on the road. I am not happy with the paint job we got so me and 2 buddies (one is a chevy guy and the other is a VW guy) are going to knock the whole thing out in 2 weekends, one for sanding and prep and the other for paint.

There is a show at the *** Burgers in Issaquah, WA on June 1st that Nikki said she wants to take the "Scampette" to (it's her car, she got to name it) so it looks like I have a deadline to meet.

:cheers:You sure do have everything going your way 360!!
Looking great.

Thanks for all your help sir:-D

So I found a factory rebuilt 390 Holley at the Monroe swapmeet for $25 I ordered a electric choke kit and a quick change vaccume secondaries kit so I have about 85 bucks into the carb. I started to bend up a new fuel line and Im back to work on the shifter/console.
I placed all the factory brackets in the right place and it still sits too high for my taste. So Im building my own brackets for it, I have the placement set up with some washers and screws right now and I still have to weld in a box for the bottom of the A100 shifter to sit in. I have the car sitting level on the jackstands and have the console level as well.

The console/bucket steats were an after thought by Nikki, that is why all the padding is installed already.

See I do work on it...sometimes.

Got the hole cut for the shifter to fit in now I just have to make a box. Also got the new front bracket made quick and easy so it sits alot lower than stock. Now I just need to make a simple bracket for the rear of the console and something around the shifter for extra bracing then it's done and there will be a set of stock console brackets for sale or trade (hey Ross I still want that 8 1/4 and Im pretty sure that Tara wants a console in her Dart LOL)
So far the only problem I can see is the stock A100 shifter cable runs out from the bottom of the shifter straight down. That will interfear with the tranny tail housing but I am going to get a shorter cable custom made (one that is 1 1/2 feet instead of 5 feet) so it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

I will get around to posting them all soon.

Once all the other suff is done we are going to repaint the dash, column, and outside of the car the same color (plumcrazy) but add some PPG violet pearl. The guy that painted the car did a real shitty job and I have 2 buddies that say we can pull he car into the shop on a friday nite, prep it, spray Saturday, and have it back on the road by Sunday evening and all I have to pay for is the paint.

Here is what we started with.

The body was real solid, the only rust out was the size of a quarter in the lower rocker on the dirverside.

Here it is after the crappy paint job.

Got the console brackets done, they aren't as nice as I wanted them but they work and the console sits totaly level. It goes in with 4 screws and sits right where I wanted it to.
Year one carpets suck ***, I want to find a pre molded one peice carpet that you don't have to cut the crap out of to make it fit. I am going to scrap this carpet as soon as I find a better one. Anyone use the JC Whitny ones?

Here is a link to the A100 shifter set up.

I used the video that cuda67bnl posted in this thread...

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=37031

... His measurements are pretty much dead on for the stock location. The only one Im not sure on is the front bracket beeing 27" from the door openning, it seemed to be off a little bit but not much.

GREAT INFO FOR ANYONE TO USE!!! THANKS cuda67bnl !!!!!!!

Here are the pics of the brackets just tack welded in. After I made sure they were level I fully welded the in place.
