LoL.

I was on a beach approach a few weeks back having lunch with the girlfriend and there was this mini van that got stock in the soft sand. A local was pulling them out and next thing I know there’s this truck in my side mirror, then went out of view, I look out the window of my truck, and their high centered on this 4-5 foot tall pile of sand, all 4 tires are spinning, I just shake my head… Some twiker chick was driving and must have said to he guy, “watch this”… LOL. On the 4th, fireworks can be launched in the beach here, so there’s 1000’s of people driving on the beach. We’re on the beach for about an hour right at dusk, and 5 cars gut stuck within about 15 minutes in the soft sand at the end of the approach. LoL, people in cars….

There is a little ramp from the little registration booth on the street to the beach, of course it made of just beach sand. Not very steep, 10 feet of fall to the beach and 500' long and the park rangers a couple times during the day would grade it and water and compact it. The tow truck drivers that were contracted to work the beach would do their best to undo that compaction on that ramp for the easy towing $$$. A friend of mine had a totally badass '69 Chebbie C10 4X4, he go out there, air down his tires a bit, hook up his tow strap to his truck and sit there by that ramp. When the tourists would get stuck on the ramp he run out there, hook up and drag 'em out before the tow truck drivers. "Glad you enjoyed your time in the dunes. Now get the heck outa here." "But wait. How much do we owe you for the tow?" "Nothin' my gift. Have a safe drive home." Tow truck drivers sit at the side of the ramp just fumin'

We've been having a tow truck war in Toronto. Some of the cops were involved (go figure). For instance a guy would come home and park his tow truck in the driveway and sometime during the night it would catch on fire and some drivers were even shot at. This ring has now been busted I believe.

When I got out of Navy boot camp, San Diego, 1968, I IMMEDIATELY had to go across the same "chicken ****" base to electrical "BEEP" school for several weeks. Some of the guys had cars, and two of them, one with a Chevell, alloy wheels, and an early 'Vette, with alloy wheels came back one Monday talking about "the fun they'd had on the beach."

I says, "you DO KNOW that is SALT WATER, doncha?"

Yup, about a week later, those wheels looked like hell

I only took my 4X4 Yota to Pismo a half dozen times and in the 12 years I had it, never did get all that bloody beach sand out of it
