This thread is too Rigid and has gone off the Rails!

Still stiffer than stock. You just said it. Remove everything but the frame and floor sections and that long wide platform will go up and down with ease.Tie in the body and all the other "crap" and you will have provided the necessary rigidity that only three dimensions can provide.I have built a lot of big beefy trailers and they really don't get rigid until you build and weld the sides and ends.Even then they will flex.
Was that chassis builder named Tony?I had a chassis builder tell me that frame connectors don't do anything . He also told me a 6point roll won't stiffen a chassis . hahahaha. To the person who posted that Detroit didn't put flex into their cars never rode in a 1959-1964 Chevy Impala x-frame . I used to race a 1965 Valiant Signet 2 dr. h.t., 272 2bbl. After a pass the doors wouldn't open . Tied the frames and problem solved .
Best post on a 6 page thread right here!!I want to make myself clear on something though. Tony is a wealth if knowledge and information on these cars. He has more experience in his left pinky than most people gain in a lifetime. I have the utmost respect for him and his abilities. Just because I disagree with him on something takes nothing away from him at all. I just disagree.
Also.........MILLIONS of Mopars drove MILLIONS of miles and never got frame connectors. Lots are still out there and they are fine. Everything I have said about the subject is MY PERSONAL OPINION and should be taken as such. Seems lots of people here agree. Some don't and that's fine too. I guess the bottom line is do to your car what YOU want to. If frame connectors ain't it, then more power to you!
I never meant any disrespect to UTG. In fact mr. Tony is one of few people I don't know personally but I would trust him with the keys to my car. The man is brilliant, and cute.
But if he is going to put his opinions out there then he can expect some disagreement and a lot of agreement.
As I said earlier, the video put me in a dilemma as to what to do with my own car which now has connectors and is almost done with the restoration process, that is the only reason I posted here in a question.
For those that say ‘What is he smoking Tony’ provides good information,, I want to know more about those spot welds that get work hardened after sub frame connectors are installed.
Walk me through the physics of how a spot weld, that is already harder than the surrounding material gets ‘work hardned’ by removing flex.
I'm a streeter. The speed limit is 65mph.

I wonder if maybe he's talking about metal fatigue from the flex. Since the spot welds are already harder....and they are.......good point........maybe he means they get metal fatigue from having to carry more load from the added connectors? I know......I'm reaching here but that's all I can think of.
The post isn't about disrespecting Tony, its identifying his information for what it is. With no disrespect, it's BS, it's from a person talking beyond his knowledge base, let's be honest.
Brother dont reach too far on this. Watching that video I started laughing at the absurdity of it, shot beer out of my nose. Ya know that **** burns coming out your nose too right? Then watched the next video he had on barracuda fast backs. The white one looked pretty nice to me. Some non stock **** easily reversed to stock if needed. I wouldent kick either car outta my garage but that's just me. He's a purist everything's gotta be as chrysler built it. And that's ok. But talking about wanting more flex in the body than less, that's the part when the beer went thru my nose. Ya that **** really burns dontcha know lol.
How many of those miles were logged in bone stock vehicles running bias ply’s, just as the factory intended?
No one here is arguing that these cars will fall apart or are dangerous without subframe connectors. They’re beneficial, not absolutely mandatory.
Tony, on the other hand, is advocating that you should cut out subframe connectors if your car already has them, they’re that bad. He is out of his depth.
He’s just wrong Rob. I don’t know what he’s thinking or what his motivations are. But he’s completely *** backwards on this.
Exactly. I’m sure Tony is a wealth of knowledge on other topics. But on this one, he’s completely off base. It’s not an attack on him, he’s just wrong.
