I thought the whole idea was to bring the wanted in for money.

Seems like "Josh Randall" never gets to collect a bounty, LOL. He must 'a been awful broke!!!

I remember watching that show as a kid. Not much about the plot, as I was only 5 when it started, but I do remember being fascinated by his gun.

I can't imagine that piece of hardware being useful. It would not have been fast like a pistol, especially with no "leverage" Seems like an incredibly poor setup.

Even more stupid, it appears that some outfit actually makes replicas.

That show was not on a channel we could get at home. I'd guess the vast majority back then didn't watch it for the plot, LOL.

In 1958, 6 of the top 10 tv shows, and 11 of the top 25, were westerns. Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Have Gun, Will Travel, and The Rifleman were the top 4. Wanted, Dead or Alive (CBS) was 16. Westerns, pretty much ruled back then. Although that particular type of weapon may not be practical, it sure did look good on tv, much as Chuck Conners, aka Lucas McCain's rifle, in The Rifleman.

I still watch Gunsmoke, Bonanza, "The Big Valley" and this show off "ME TV" available locally here via the local ABC sub channel.

I sometimes watch Wagon Train but it's not one of my favorites. I used to like ol Paladin, LOL

"Taxi" is on one night.

Have Gun--Will Travel (Paladin) is still on Encore Westerns daily. I watch it occasionally when I get home from work early enough. Paladin was always one of my favorites when I was a kid. Bat Masterson, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Maverick are also on.
