Hi all

I got my second 67 dart convert IBM card today.

Unfortunately they could not identify the dealership

It has a region code of 12 and a dealer code of 17000.

It was last registered in Texas in 76.

Anyone have the same on their IBM card and know the dealer and or region?

Thanks

Got the same code for a '66 Polara that a friend got out of Wisconsin. We did not know if it was sold there or not. It was the one car out of the four I sent info on, that I wanted to know where it sold new!

Interesting that your last 3 before the control number are 934.

Same as on mine

( I wonder what "fleet items" is?)

Just noted the dealer code is on the tape on my certicard.

Take a look and see what you all can find.

In most cases the dealer and owner will be in the same general location

Also dealer codes might be in your glove box authorized dealer card

My 1966 Barracuda has the same region 12, dealer code 17000, and 934 at the end of the card. Lucky for me, the intervening owners kept the owner's manual that had the original title transfer in it. My car was first registered to Chrysler Corp on April 18, 1966 (same date as shipped date on card). It was then sold (with 8610 miles) to it's first public owner January 16, 1967 at Young Motors of Fredericksburg, VA. Young Motors is dealer code 8405 in region 35. It would appear that those codes show it was made as a demonstrator or company car, and not destined for a certain dealer.

Each column is numbered on the bottom 1-80.

The last 3 before the control number are 68/69/70, so the last 3 codes would be:
689 EXPORT/DLR. DEMO/SPECIAL HEADER > SPECIAL HEADER & TAG INSTRUCTIONS
693 SOLD/NCS/SPECIAL ORDER > MANUFACTURERS CERT/STATEMENT OF ORIGIN
704 SOLD CODES/INELIGIBLE FOR INCENTIVE > CORPORATE LEASING CAR-DIRECT LEASING

I do have the Certicard, I'll have to look next time I'm near the car. Glove box card was long gone when I got the hot rod.

Are you trying to say that the column number is part of the Chrysler coding?

Well son of a *****....

The Plymouth sales man's guide on 70 Hamtramic historical says just exactly what @matthon is saying.
The column and the number in it directly translates to the item in the handbook.

It also answers a issue I found on my 2 IBM cards.

2 punches in the same column that did not equate to a character.

Dart #1

Column 47

It has a 1 and a 9

471 is CAP
479 is disk brakes

It has both!

My #2 dart has 2 numbers punched in column 48

A 3 and an 6 ( not traditional IBM punch card incoming)

483 is bumper guards front and rear.
And
486 is console with bucket seats

Dart #2 has both of those

Thank you thank you thank you @matthon

2 punches can also be a letter, as in the VIN, Trim or Paint code, which are read without the bottom 1-80 numbers.

Agreeded...

but they are only the 12th and 11th and 0 rows plus 1-9

Looked at the Certicard today, it has the same info that I already had, Region 12, Dealer 17000. Does CLC stand for Chrysler Leasing Corporation or similar?

Lots of 6's with this car. 6-66 on the Certicard, 603 for a SPD, and a Shipped Date of 6-06 on the IBM card. Was it actually built on it's intended day? Pretty sure I'll never know.

On one of mine there are an excess number of 7s

And another has 6769 in its numbers....

The 3 years of the most awesome looking Darts

If need be, would you share a copy of those documents (redacting certain info should be fine)? I'm sending these findings to Danielle at Stellantis Historical
