Azul, one of our soon to be year old Redbone Coonhounds was spayed back in September. Her and her sister were done on the same day. She started dripping some blood over the weekend. She has been getting frisky with our 12 year old Redbone. Azul started a fight with her sister yesterday, which is completely out of character for her. Red, the 12 year old, has been coughing lately so we took him to the vet...and Azul got to tag along. Managed to get Azul to pee in a cup for a urinalysis. Vet wants to rule out a bladder infection. She also drew some blood to check for hormones. She said that if any estrogen shows up she probably has some ectopic reproduction materials some where. Which means that she has some reproductive material growing where it shouldn't be. Vet has been in practice for close to 2 decades and has never seen this happen. We were told that Azul will have an ultrasound, I think that is what she said, on her to locate the wayward matter. Vet told us that they will take care of the $ for the blood test and if estrogen is present will be taking care of the $ end of anything that happens from here on out. I feel so bad for our little girl. The thought of her needing surgery is bothering me some.

hope all turns out well. it will soon get to the point where we need medical ins. for the dogs, cats. you can buy med ins. for horses since they can be SOooo epensive.

the vets went t o college for a BS then went to 4 years vet school, so about 10 years ago, many of them figured they should be paid like a MD. HUH.

At least your vet is working with you and not trying to pull $$$$ out of your @ss...

Hope she is ok....

Keep us posted...

I was not to wild about the two vets at this office first time in there. But ever since they helped our Australian Cattle Dog Queenie my opinion of them has changed. And you're right about them not trying to pull $$$$ out of my a@@.

They called today. Azul does have a bladder infection. The blood test she ran came back inconclusive. She wants us to come down tomorrow and pick up some anti-biotics and after the course of them bring Azul back to them so she can do another blood test...she said that she will be paying for the blood test again.

Azul is going to the vets tomorrow to have blood drawn....

Going to bring her sister along for the ride. Want to see how much she weighs.
