I know there are those of you that have not a clue on what makes me tick, but there are those here that do. It's not being a delete happy Mod but rather a man that sees a need and trys not only to fill the need but to fill the need with joy and satifaction from any and all recipients. With that said let me explain my plan. I've dealt with a particular family for years off and on. The boys were in my Royal Rangers troop back in the days of going to church day in and day out. The boys were nothing short of ornery but so was i. Their dad was a spendly type of skinny 4 eyed kinda guy that really had what i call no direction in his live but was a very intelligent sort of person. Meaning he had his field of expertise but could never find those that needed that expertise in his time of need. Being the type of person thats really big into trying to get the best to come out in a person, i've always hired people hoping to find an area of diligence in their life that i could work with. Back in the 80's I hired their dad and put him to work at my small pallet manufacturing operation, first building pallets with an air nailer on an assembly table. The guy worked his *** off even having to bandage up his hands so as to keep producing. The guy had heart. One day the issue came up when i had a diesel forklift engine go bad on me. He told me he knew how to rebuild those engines. Now to look at him you would laugh and move on. I cant do it that way so i gave him a go at it. I bought kits, tools and fluids and to my satifaction the engine was rebuilt at a much lower cost and able to function as good as if a professional shop had built it. We're talking sleeves and the works. I was impressed and have never forgot the abilities this man has and i know still obtains. Having lost track of the family many years ago, they moved back up north, i forgot about the whole family. About a year ago one of the boys, now about 30, paid me a visit. A grown man i might ad. He has come up through some training as a body man and trained by GM in dealerships up north. The boy is really good at what he does and does a good job. I think the term should lean more towards excellant. He works for a local body repair shop and is gamefully employed. His younger brother is now an employee of mine that is one hell of a concrete finisher and a hard worker on anything you put him on. Their father however, according to the boys is a waste. Does way too much drinking and lives with yet another brother. The boys love their dad but have written him off as a lost cause...but i haven't. I know of the mans abilities and have formulated a plan to hopefully assist in bringing this father and his sons back together. Some of the boys say it's a lost cause but they would be willing to be a part of it but have warned me to not get my hopes up. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I try and look into the eyes of individuals and see the good that no one ever looks for so here is my plan.
Over the years dad has built some killer cars for the boys to play with and he's damn good. The boys say he's little short of a Zombie but i aint buyin it. Alcohol has ran it's toll according to them. I've got a 64 Savoy 2 dr post that i'm draggin in the shop and we have until the middle of September to have it ready to run the quarter mile at MMW along with several runs at the local track in Rogersville. I have the 440 dual quad, 12.5:1 roller rocker for a motor. I have a narrowed dana 60 with ladder bars and a 727 tranny. I'm trying to pull this group of brothers and dad back together so as to renew a relationship that needs to exist. The sons love their dad but cant ever imagine him being anything but wasted. I haven't spoken to dad but i have thrown some bait out there in the form of me paying the expenses to the tracks and leting him do the set up and tuning on the car. The one son will do the body work and the other sons will assist in putting it together and tearing it apart. I'll need a few parts and i'll of course will have some expenses but the eventual goal will far exceed any cost that i may incurr. Tomorrow evening the Savoy will see the shop and we'll start the process of reviving a relationship that is long overdue. Your heart felt prayers on this endeavor will be much appriciated and i know will be of value. You might say i have all the parts and the inspiration to see this through. It's the outcome that will see me through. Not the car.
Thanks for listening.
