As if we dont have enough financial problems today..
Myself and many others recieved an email from AT&T stating changes in billing. The next bill we recieve will be for current month and the comming month also. So twice 83.00 for my service charged on my November bill.
Just in time for Christmas eh ?
Honestly... I actually expected these sort of changes when AT&T took control of BellSouth.
They can bill it but they'll only collect what amount is written on the check.
I am so glad that I dont allow them or anyine else to reach into our personal checking account and take whatever they want.
Funny how comunications in general think their industry is immune to economic crisis. Will people cut back on lifes essentials to talk ? Not me.
My participation in FABO might abruptly end in the near future.
It's not so much the money as it is the timing. Why not "Changes effective Jan.01-09" ? Anyone know what AT&T stands for ? Surely the A doesn't represent American. I think I'll draw AT$T on the next check I write to them.

Do you have any others providers you could change to?
You can't leave us your knowledge is priceless.
I could speculate on the meaning of the A but probably wouldn't be close lol
Time Warner does the same thing here got my bill due Nov 27th
I'll be paying that on the 26th

Charter Cable wire comes half way down my street and stops. For over 20 years we have recieved mailings from them with all sorts of offers. Just yesterday I opened one that says "Get all 3 for 89.95 per month".
While 80 % of the mailing are the "resident" mass mailing type, 20% are addressed to me by name. I call their toll free number atleast twice per year and say "Sure. Hook me up." It takes about an hour for them to figure out their 'short comming" as it were.
My attorney says I could sue them if I want to (false advertising).
I have a nice collection of their mailing collected over 20+ years.
Truth is I dont want/need over 100 TV channels anyway.

You think that's bad, we recently got notice that Hydro which is our electrical provider is going to a 2 tier billing system. Anyone living in something bigger than a closet will pay a ton extra after the first few kilowatts. They said it is to penanlize anyone that heats their house or hot water tank with electricity. This while they're all making a big deal about being carbon neutral. So if you don't want me to heat with oil or eclectricity what the eff am I to heat with??? This is Canada, not heating isn't an option, bastards :angry7:

RedFish, your presence here is invaluable. I'd hate to see you go.

If you have a high speed internet connection, please check out Vonage. I told AT&T to kiss my backside in February of last year. Since going with Vonage, my HIGHEST bill ever was $33.13; it's a flat $24.99 a month plus the inevitable taxes. I can call anybody at any time (even foreign countries) and talk for as long as I want to and the charge never goes up. There are over 20 features -- call waiting, voice mail, unlimited long distance, etc. -- included at no extra charge. I got to keep my prior phone number. Calls are crystal clear and the service is unbeatable.

All I needed to buy was an ethernet connection (about $30) from CompUSA to make it work. It uses your existing internet and does not interrupt your browsing for phone calls. I'm really happy with it.

If you decide to sign up or check it out, put me down as your referral. I think we'll both get a month or two free. :-D

Blame Congress. I believe it was a little over 3 years ago they opened this door. Allowing the communications industry to bill for their services in advance of providing the service. It started with the cell phone industry and cable providers and is now trickling down to other residential services.

i dont even know what att stands for and i work for dig right and locate their undergroung cables and fibers . lol

AT&T = american telephone & telegragh

i use time warner after getting fed up with at&t. i get my cable, internet, and telephone service all on one bill. about 139 a month for the service i have now which includes hi-def and free long distance which, as you might imagine, is a very good feature when you're way out here.
roadrunner rocks !

Leanna I agree. I had Vonage until approx 2 years ago and I was really happy with them. Only reason I changed is because I have had my cable and internet with the same provider and they added phone service. It ended up costing me an extra $3 to add phone on because of the "bundle" programs that they have. They must have changed a little because when I signed up they sent me the router free of charge. Regardless, its still a great deal!!

There is nothing American about kick them when they're down. It's corperate greed at its finest.
Charities like Salvation Army are hurting and look forward to the "season of giiving" more now than ever. To look their volentier in the eye and say "Sorry AT$T took it" will be sad but true.
